The near side rear passenger door lock is the problem - it can be locked or opened manually but fails when centrally locked. It locks and unlocks a number of times before remaining unlocked. When unlocking the car it oscillates back and forth in the same manner before remaining locked.

 

The boot and doors all work fine otherwise - the problem seems confined to this door.

Yes its a Ghia, I spoke to a locksmith relation earlier this evening who is confident that the problem afflicting the car is from the door lock motor

My dad and I opened up the passenger bulkhead today on a 2002 TDi, couldn't find the central locking module - worth checking under the seat?

My parents' Mk 2 2002 Ford Galaxy Tdi is experiencing this exact same problem on the exact same door. I was able to disconnect the module on the drivers side but nothing has changed - any suggestions?
