  1. Thanks guys.. I will arrange some test drives, and might as well consider the s-max if the galaxy doesnt have a spare either. :( I find it shocking that a family car does not have space for a spare tire. I must say though, that the reviews of the S-max is even more all over the place, it seems very hit and miss.
  2. Hi, I've been driving a 2003 mk2 for 7 year now and are generally very pleased with it, however time has come to buy a new (2010/2011) car and I keep coming back to the Galaxy as the best option.. (The S-max not having a spare tire is really putting me off it) I've got a couple of questions regard the current version of the Galaxy vs the MK2 version: 1) Is the new one better insulated for sound driving down the motorway, etc? The Mk2 is pretty loud and one of the complaints we've got with it. 2) How is fuel consumption on the Mk2 vs the Mk3? My Mk2 does 450 miles on a tank if I drive carefully. Hopefully some of you have owned both and can tell me if the Mk3 is any better. :)
  3. When I last changed the front disks on my 1.9 TDI Galaxy (2003 model) I had no idea about 288mm vs 300mm disks, and fitted a 300mm disk based on the recommendation of the online dealer (which might well have been correct, as they perform perfectly fine), however I now need to change them again and I was wondering how I can tell whether to fit 288mm or 300mm.. Will it be in the handbook? What would 1.9 TDI 2003 model typically be fitted with?
  4. You were spot on Seatkid. Halfords had incorrectly sold me a 382, 21/12w bulb.. I checked their charts myself first, picked the bulb and asked one of the staff to double check I had the right bulb.. I have now removed the bulb and everything seems to be working fine again.. I will be going to Halfords at the weekend to get the bulbs changed - even though I havent got the receipt any more. As always this forum has proven extremely helpful. Thanks for all the replies.
  5. I could add that the break light stopped working all together last week, so I replaced the bulb.. I havent driven the car since then I think, so it well have happened then.
  6. Hi guys, My Galaxy has been running fine for a while, but today it developed symptoms similar to that others have described when their Break Light Switch needed changing: Glow Plug light flashing When headlights is on: Break Lights constantly on (no change when you press the breaks) When headlights turned to off: Break lights operate as they should Could this still be the Break Light Switch? (Considering it works fine when the headlights are off?) (I tried to lay on the back next to the break hoping to see something looking like a switch, but couldnt for the life of me see anything looking anything like the break light switch. lol) Im driving a MK2 (2003) 1.9 diesel.
  7. Problem solved.. I found the procedure to program the PATS here chip here.. Now both keys will start the car.
  8. OK, I have found the chip tucked into the key and swapped these around and the new key now works.. Question is, is it possible to reprogram this chip, so I can keep the old remote key as a spare?
  9. Hi, Ages I bought a spare remote key for my 03 Galaxy, today I finally got around to reprogramming it - it now opens the door fine (both remote and by using the key), but it does not start the car. Is the programming of the remote element different from being able to start the car? The old car (with a dodgy remote element) and the spare (none remote) key starts the car fine. Any help would be useful.
  10. Did you have to reprogram the keys after you changed the battery? What kind of batteries are they? I need to change mine aswell.
  11. bump.. Hopefully somebody knows.
  12. Thanks to Mirez' help I have now diagnosed the problem. In case it is useful to others in the future: The sensor measured correctly, but it would not reset - so once it had a reading of say 20cm (constant beep) it would beep every time I reversed. Now I just need to get another sensor and try to change it. Thanks alot for your help Mirez.
  13. Does anybody have any idea on how to replace the front parking sensors? Does the bumper have to come off? If so, how do I take it off? Are there any step by step tutorials (with photos?) available? Cheers.
