  1. Hi BrianH, Many thanks for your reply I will try this today. What are your thoughts on a suggestion that it could be the duel mass flywheel, something about the ageing springs? I am struggling to see the link with this one but it came from two independent mechanics.
  2. Hi All, I hope you can help me. My Seat Alhambra, 93k on the clock, has significant steering wheel judder when accelerating and braking at motorway speeds, coasting at motorway speeds and driving around the houses you would think nothing was wrong. I have replaced the front discs and pads with Mintex parts and apart from improving the braking nothing has changed. Does anyone have any ideas?
  3. Hi everyone, Many thanks for all your advice to help me sort this problem out. It turned out to be the temperature sensor that controls the temp gauge and hence was telling the brain that the engine was a normal operating temperature right from cold starting. Part now changed and all is well. Now waiting for the next problem to emerge. Regards, Philip.
  4. Hi, I now know that the glow plug symbol on the dash does not come on. This is my wife's car so I don't drive it very often, so I only get to know about all the little bits if information when something catastrophic happens. Does this indication that it could be a glow plug relay? Help please.............. Philip.
  5. Hi, could the temp sensor be suggesting to the brain that the engine is at normal operating tempature when it is actually cold, so not switch on the glow plugs/correct fueling/timing, etc? Philip.
  6. Hi, It is definitely coming from the exhaust, and stops when the engine warms up a bit. Philip.
  7. Hi, its my Galaxy's monthly problem time. It amazes me how this car can come up with something new on such a regular basis to cost me lots of money to put right......... Hope some one can help. Upon cold starting the engine idles very roughly and produces a lot of white smoke which I believe is unburnt fuel. However, when the car has been driven and starts to warm up it seams to be ok. Even when it has been left for a few hours and restarted it seams to run fine. So, checked the glow plugs fuse which was fine, so I decided to change the glow plugs. No difference. Then I noticed that the engine water temp gauge needle was in the normal vertical position when the engine was cold (didn't notice it earlier) so I suspect that this is a clue to the problem. Can anyone suggest what could be the problem? Philip.
  8. I have a 2003 Ford Galaxy with climate control. When the ignition is turned on all the symbols on the display flash for 15 seconds, after which the display returns to normal. Does anyone know what the likley cause of this problem is?
  9. Hi, I hope someone can help. My wife and I have a 2003 Galaxy 1.9 TDI Ghia which we bought last October. This is the second Galaxy we have had and although we have had the odd problem to sort out, we think they are great cars. The problem we have now is when the rear auxilary heater is on when the car had just been started there is a loud ticking sound from what sounds like behind the front passenger footwell. Does anyone know what it could be? Many thanks, Philip.
