  1. Thanks for that. Now, I had a look at the driver side rear window - the aeriel connection is the bit under the plastic cover, halfway along the top of the window I guess. Nothing obviously loose there - the black plastic shroud seems intact, but do I need to pull this of too to get to the actual connector to check? To test the tuner pack - do I just pick up an aeriel from Halfords or can I improvise something just for the test? If it is that, seems daft getting it repaired, I might as well bite the bullet and just buy a new replacement unit. As for removing the radio, my vast selection ( OK,some ) of precision screwdrivers don't help me with this as they don't quite reach.......... I'll pop out and buy some more.
  2. Hi , Thanks for such quick replies! Yes ,all bands lost. So, the aeriel is on the rear side window? Is that the rearmost one, where the CD changer drawer is? I guess it must be like a spade connection or something then, is that what I should look for? And assuming that looks OK, then remove the unit to look at that end of the cable? How many more questions can I put in a row? :) Thanks again.
  3. Hi everyone, Much more a lurker than a poster here usually, but hoping someone can give me a clue about this. Bog standard 2002 Ghia TDi - is that the 5000 unit I think? Just the other day the radio reception just stopped - I get the interference sound and can't pick up any radio station at all either by autoscan or manual tuning, it's like the ariel has stopped working. CD changer & tape both work fine. Might it be something as daft as a loose cable? If so, easy enough to get the unit out for a look or do I have to pick up radio pins? Any advice would be really appreciated, thanks!
  4. Yeah, there is that mentality! I drive a 5 series BM, but love the Galaxy. Great for loading all the kids and heading off on an adventure, and still getting >30 mpg!!! We've had the car since new, done 42k miles just, and whilst the vain bit of me wants to trade it on for the new one, the fact is it's still in great shape, drives well and does exactly what we want from it. I'm a real fan.
  5. Thanks everyone. I'm not a forum newbie as such, just here I'm glad to say! The Galaxy is more my wife's car, although I love it. Generally it's been a dream to own, no niggles, no grief and minimal servicing. Just lately I have an air con problem but seem to have found the most obvious resolution on the forums, hopefully!
  6. Hi everyone, Dave from Glasgow here. I have a 2001 Galaxy Ghia TDi that I've owned from new, but only just found this site today! I found it by snorfling around Google for a solution to a problem, and looks like the forum lists it, so I'm chuffed. Looks like a great site, so I'll familiarise myself with it and see what everyone else is doing to their Galaxies!! I really look forward to reading as many posts as possible.
