I did a matrix heater on a golf mk2 hated doing it! anyone know by any chance vw made it any easier on the galaxy i mean on sharan, you know what i mean???
  7. You got it ... If you jack the front of the car up so that both front wheels are off the floor and with the bonnet open, turn both wheels using the steering wheel (no power assistance) to full lock and listen around the area of the "rubber things". If the bushes are corroded then as the shocks twist you'll hear the noises you describe. do i do this with the engine started? as you said and i quote "(no power assistance)"???
  8. yep have checked that before it was low but it now fine! i was checking a post that was talking about alternator pulley and how to check that the pulley is faulty and it freewheelsome sorts, let me go and check that and see if my alternator ! be right back ok ust checked it cant turn it cant see how it could turn if the tensioner is tensioning the belt, how could you turn it. i could only think you would have to release the tensioner then do the test! heres the thread - http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=11428
  9. hi all, thanks for reply! Hi again seatkid, It does it when staionary and when doing a U-turn full lock (moving slowly) Haven't tried turning full lock at 50mph but if you want me to do that than book me in a racing track or cheaper option is we'll simulate it on need for speed under ground!lol Hi woody, yes it does on mine get worse in cold, guess could try that not that expensive for belt but does that explain the ruff steering? Hi Bleeno, yes it was parked up for 6months and the cylinder head job was in progress so if you mean front strut as in engine mount? then yes that was exposes to water. otherwise what or which front struts are we refering to? do you mean them round rubber things on either side of the engine bay where the suspensions are underneath???
  10. Hi to all! My car yes another problem yet again! Cv joint was changed but second hand part not sure what side!it did have a squeeky niose before but the car was parked up for 6months. since i got it back from mechanics its worse and there is a ruff feeling in steering when turning either ways, also the other day turning it to the right it was locking up. I persumed that the wheel was against the curb but I tried it later on and same thing i had to turn it back then towards the right with a bit of muscle and then it relesed up and turned fully. Before it was parked up for 6months it was just squeeking and the steering felt funny at times. but now like i said its ruff on turning and squeeks specially on full lock, the timing and auxcilly belt tensioners have both been changed!the anti roll bars, steering rods and wishbone has been changed.these were changed before the noise, I'm just eliminating everything for you lot to make things easy! Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking it was cv joint but now that i have writing the above out I am not so sure!
  11. Hi guys, I found some site through google by searching on gas struts and a few sites do mods for cars and they have strut for all kinds of purposes and strut that take all kinds of weight loads just search it! Il let you know hopefully what result i get when i get round to doing it!
  12. do your homework first to see which is best for you if its a tdi you can get between 30 to 50% more power plus around 70nm more torque...if petrol about 10 -20% more gain if turbo version non turbo save your dough youll gain nothing....the best one i know of down south stratford on avon is dna tuning..john his name is look on the net for him even just to pick his brains very helpfull...he also does ecu postal remaps when distance is an issue...bassically take your ecu out send recorded you have it back in 3 days downfall is your without a bus for a couple of days...most tuners do postal for a cheaper price dna for example charge
  13. Hi all, Does anyone know where I may get my galaxy remapped in east London for more MPG, can anyone recommend me a place? And also let me know how much it would cost? Thanks!
  14. Well mk2vr6, I was expecting my windows also to close when i lock the car but I was told I have to buy a extra device that my car is missing, also I think the same situation with the door tiggers. It locks with the alarm but it dont do it when car is moving, have to have a word with the guy who installed it. few features not working on the alarm. Not sure if I have devices missing on my car so that mean i would have to buy them or he hasn't wired it up! clueless. but anyway my galaxy doesn't have a release button at the front so thats why it needed to be rigged up! but it bit pointless because evan if the alarm did release the tailgate lock with a push of a button because it doesn't go up onits own you still have to pull on the opening handle to lift the tail gate up! so thats why I thought if it lifted itself it would be less pointless hooking up the alarm to tailgate lol! boy I sound like a useless jurk! Does any of this make sense? So you said i need a solenoid? sorry i'm not too technical, my tailgate does have a electric motor that releases it when you pull on the handle! do you mean that? Well not married yet so if I do have the galaxy with the swinging Tailgate by then, then I'll tell her to wear a gum shield and duck and weave and bob a bit! Is there a pair of gas struts that are just enough power to lift the tailgate or evan one gas strut to work it??? Do you know where to get them? I don't want my tailgate to score a goal from the halfway line i just want it to lift, it needs about a 35 degree lift before the standard struts do the rest!
  15. I got an alarm fitted and it kind of half working tail gate boot realase with the alarm pad, which I'm only going to sort out if i can get the tail gate to lift by it self on release! does anyone know where i may get more powerfull struts to lift the tail gate or would i need to get some sort of spring loaded devise to the tail gate???? I've seen a self lifting one on a mpv crysler!
  16. So How much did it cost you rodders? and where? I did get bit confused, so you got it mapped for more mpg and it gave you more power aswell. but what your saying is if you get it mapped for more power rather than mapping for more mpg then the mpg wont be as good as factory setting right?
  17. No MkII has under bonnet light but the bonnet switch is standard in these and the 2 poles are connected in parallel. Irregardless of whether you think my statements are true or not :P...........oh f*** it...http://www.briskoda.net/forums/images/smilies/banghead.gif... chicken, wire up your chinese "brain" and enjoy ...... I need a beer and to seriously consider whether I should go to bed earlier (yes gregers!), I spend far too long on this site...http://briskoda.net/images/smilies/nopity.gif Why? I must be crazy.......http://www.briskoda.net/forums/images/smilies/pillepalle.gif lol wow so many replies, mainly just to disagree but yea replies non the less! ok let me put you lot out of your missery. The alarm and yea chinese one it now officially fitted! and yes there seems like there was a alarm fitted on before but someone has taken it off or maybe even it wasn't there in the first place, just dont know! and the chinese alarm is going for gold in only that its working without trouble here in uk or even if it was in bejin! (correct my spelling please do!) But the add ons are cheap, siren couldnt scare a cat, and shock sensor, really need a ultra sonic one but i've been told these are not expensive! hope that true! but never the less I like it, anti hijack, long range remote, blaa blaa does wat it say on the tin i guess just shame about the crap add ons. o yea the guy who done it for me nice chap indeed tried to wire up the tail gate lock as mine does not have a boot release button, it worked when he was just testing ti with a stright wire through from the fornt to back of car but when it had to be put into dash bits the wire got much longer so the lock only moves a it! so it dont really open but he said dont waste your money if you cant get a stronger boot ram to lift it up on its! if i can find a stronger ram to lift it from bottom to top then he'll relay it up with more power! so anyone got any advise in where i can get better rams??? Well thats the alarm life story hope it put you lot out of your missery!
  18. No i think it ok just at top revs it gives a little smoke, told thats normal. i have had someone look at it they can't see anything wrong with it. They said it a lovely motor just someone just vandalised my interia. But il give it a good look over before stevie m starts on his pack of 20! O no dont tell me you already started the habit but the engine seem fine!lol Think i'm just one of them guys who wants everything just right!
  19. Hi everyone, I see everyone is having a bit of a slanging match here. Is the the serial port thing the same as tuning box???? Does anyone have an idea?
  20. ok tried it, i locked it from inside and left for 10sec and opened via inside handle it just opened itself up. I lock it from outside while i was inside by opening the window and then 10sec tried to open with inside handle and it refused to open but didnt make any alarm noise. Then while the car was lock from outside i banged on everywhere at the front of car including the pillars and nothing! so what now guys? O noticed when i locked it from outside then put my key in the ignition and turned it to start the doors released so i could open the door from inside!
  21. Yea i know i dont have a clue this is why I'm here! Il try and see if I can make my car scream!
  22. hummm! I think then it might just need a good run! The other day i noticed the white smoke again and gave ti a good rev and then it stop smoking and start pulling better! Thanks
  23. Well i went to someone to ask for my alarm to get fitted and he asked me to put my window down and lock the car door, then i put my hand through to start the car and it started. :) the only thing was the red light on the door changed blinking pattern when i put the key into the ignition and turn to start it but thats all no alarm noise or no immobiliser! anyway I can check that I have an alarm beside how i did it above?
