  7. You got it ... If you jack the front of the car up so that both front wheels are off the floor and with the bonnet open, turn both wheels using the steering wheel (no power assistance) to full lock and listen around the area of the "rubber things". If the bushes are corroded then as the shocks twist you'll hear the noises you describe. do i do this with the engine started? as you said and i quote "(no power assistance)"???
  8. yep have checked that before it was low but it now fine! i was checking a post that was talking about alternator pulley and how to check that the pulley is faulty and it freewheelsome sorts, let me go and check that and see if my alternator ! be right back ok ust checked it cant turn it cant see how it could turn if the tensioner is tensioning the belt, how could you turn it. i could only think you would have to release the tensioner then do the test! heres the thread - http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=11428
  9. hi all, thanks for reply! Hi again seatkid, It does it when staionary and when doing a U-turn full lock (moving slowly) Haven't tried turning full lock at 50mph but if you want me to do that than book me in a racing track or cheaper option is we'll simulate it on need for speed under ground!lol Hi woody, yes it does on mine get worse in cold, guess could try that not that expensive for belt but does that explain the ruff steering? Hi Bleeno, yes it was parked up for 6months and the cylinder head job was in progress so if you mean front strut as in engine mount? then yes that was exposes to water. otherwise what or which front struts are we refering to? do you mean them round rubber things on either side of the engine bay where the suspensions are underneath???
  10. Hi to all! My car yes another problem yet again! Cv joint was changed but second hand part not sure what side!it did have a squeeky niose before but the car was parked up for 6months. since i got it back from mechanics its worse and there is a ruff feeling in steering when turning either ways, also the other day turning it to the right it was locking up. I persumed that the wheel was against the curb but I tried it later on and same thing i had to turn it back then towards the right with a bit of muscle and then it relesed up and turned fully. Before it was parked up for 6months it was just squeeking and the steering felt funny at times. but now like i said its ruff on turning and squeeks specially on full lock, the timing and auxcilly belt tensioners have both been changed!the anti roll bars, steering rods and wishbone has been changed.these were changed before the noise, I'm just eliminating everything for you lot to make things easy! Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking it was cv joint but now that i have writing the above out I am not so sure!
  11. Hi guys, I found some site through google by searching on gas struts and a few sites do mods for cars and they have strut for all kinds of purposes and strut that take all kinds of weight loads just search it! Il let you know hopefully what result i get when i get round to doing it!
  12. do your homework first to see which is best for you if its a tdi you can get between 30 to 50% more power plus around 70nm more torque...if petrol about 10 -20% more gain if turbo version non turbo save your dough youll gain nothing....the best one i know of down south stratford on avon is dna tuning..john his name is look on the net for him even just to pick his brains very helpfull...he also does ecu postal remaps when distance is an issue...bassically take your ecu out send recorded you have it back in 3 days downfall is your without a bus for a couple of days...most tuners do postal for a cheaper price dna for example charge
  13. Hi all, Does anyone know where I may get my galaxy remapped in east London for more MPG, can anyone recommend me a place? And also let me know how much it would cost? Thanks!
