  1. Wow. 36 quid. Is that the same part, that Ford want £430+vat for ?? Can't be the same quality but for a years wear it's worth a pop.
  2. Thanks for the fast reply - mine's a 130.... So specifically I need to find a 1.9 130 being broken up ? Bummer.
  3. Hello All, Bear with me as I don't know anything about cars. But I'll fix your computer. I need a replacement near side driveshaft. There is a driveshaft from the diff to the bearing. This has been replaced 2 months ago by a Ford garage (seemed to be a 2 part piece). Then there's another driveshaft from the bearing to the wheel/cv joint. That's the part I need. Where it connects from that driveshaft to the bearing, it's failed, and there's vibration in the car from 30mph up. i.e, problem is not at the wheel end of that particular driveshaft, it's the other end. Ford want £430+vat for the part (not inc labour). I was planning to part-ex the car sometime soon, and so I don't want to the spend that much. They'll sell just the joint at the end where it connects to the bearing for £105+vat, but it doesn't contain any bearings, to get the bearings I need the £430 part. Pretty sure from the vibration I'll need the bearings. The £105 part may not fix the problem. But I need it in a reasonable condition to sell. I'm looking at ebay as there's a few adverts for Galaxy dismantling. Does anybody know if the driveshafts are the same across all engine variants, or do I need one from a 1.9i TDi, which limits my choice somewhat. Thanks Headless.
  4. Hi All, It's about time to replace my 53 plate Galaxy but the current model has been around so long now, there must be a new one around the corner. I don't want to buy a car now which is devalued further by a new model in a few months... Anyone know when a new one is due ? Thanks. HC.
  5. Is a VW part exactly the same ?? Widens my options a bit. Windscreen demist works fine with the unit in or out, must have been mistaken before....
  6. Hi all, The positioning of my 53 plate Galaxy's cup holder means my air con control panel has received a full dose of lemonade courtesy of Mr McDonalds leaky drink cup. The unit is now dead - no lights at all. The quickclear window functions though (button further up the console next to the radio), but no fans and no temp control, no illumination on the c/con unit. I've taken the unit out, cleaned it, dried it, it's still dead (have to put it back though or quickclear doesn't work on the windscreen). So looks like I need a new one. Can anyone advise best place to get one ? Found one on internet for
  7. Congratulations Sher on getting something useful out of Ford I tried and got this "Thank you for your enquiry Please contact Ford Technical and they will assist you further with the Information that you require Ford Technical : 0906 55 33 447 Many Thanks Jade Mckelvie Ford Information Service 08457 111 888. " I sent them a mail saying I didn't see why I should pay a premium rate charge to discuss a mistake by one of their dealers - they should be paying me for the inconvenience. No response so far and I'm not holding my breath. Still that other post shows all I need to see, thanks.
  8. Thanks All, I've bought some 505.01 ! The offending dealer was M53 Ford in Birkenhead. I queried it with M53 Ford at Ellesmere Port, they said it's definitely the right one. I spoke to Peoples Ford @ Speke, they said don't put that oil in, it's wrong - Formula SD only. I think we all know who will and won't be servicing that car. Cheers.
  9. Does anyone know how this Ford oil compares to the VW specs ?
  10. Hi All, I've bought a 53 1.9TDi 130 Galaxy that's done 55K and am planning to keep it sometime. It needs oil. Local Ford Dealer has just supplied a top-up bottle of "Ford Formula E 5W-30", WSS-M2C913-B. API SL. ILSAC GF-3. ACEA A1/B1,
