More Oil Than Petrol, Help !

i know what you mean the 2.0 isn't going to win any 0-60 contests, but it's not too bad to be fair, i'm pleased with mine and set out to buy a 2.0 as it was the only engine size that i could afford to run!!!!. Ford only put the 2.0 engine in the gal for about 2 years and decided it was not big enough hence why they introduced the 2.3 in '98. But i haven't driven a 2.3 so don't have any idea how they are to drive or how much more powerful it feels either. of course, i didn't realise that i made that mistake!!!!!!!obviously i meant the other way around :D

and it worked perfectly??? did it drive any different??? eg torque, more free revving??? and it worked perfectly??? did it drive any different??? eg torque, more free revving???

only if you buy a VW or a SEAT, Ford put thier own 2.0 Engine in thier Galaxy, which technically is an enlarged version of the 2.3
-
yes i know what you mean, i had a small feeling someone would mention the ecu.
-
yes but your car is not red as well, IIRC it's blue isn't it??? with my car being red as well as the calipers it kinda "blends in" if you like, thats why yellow's niggling away at me!!!!!!
-
These alloys being Venoms stick out slightly beyond the edge of the tyre so even if you get too close to a keb whilst parallel with it then you can scrape them quite badly!!!!, also need to paint my calipers yellow they are currently red and don't stand out as well as i thought they would (a job for next summer!!)

Hi All, This Is strictly just a thought (I seen this Question on a Seirra Forum whilst pointlessly Browsing).......Do you think it is possible to run a 2.3 bottom end with a 2.0 8v Head???
-
hi, They are TSW Venoms 17" One Has Kerb Damage Though Not Severe though :D Best Regards Daves

Vibrationy Type Noise
davey1825 replied to Jimbo73's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Drivebelt---> On the 2.0 & 2.3 i'm sure that the belt drives the Waterpump, Alternator, Powersteering Pump, and if you have it Air Con so if this were to break in service and you were to stop immediately then you should not cause any damage, but your steering would go really heavy and your engine coolant would no longer be circulating around the radiator as your water pump would stop as well, the red battery light would also come on as the alternator would no longer be running to charge the battery, i know it seems like a lot but it is a serpentine belt that drives numerous items. All in all nothing a new belt would not cure!! Constant Velocity Joint---> A worn CV joint can generally be heard before it "goes", the CV joint can be checked for by as you probably well know driving around in a tight circle full lock in both directions and listening for nasty metallic clicks from the wheel area which goes faster the faster you accelerate, If you can not hear any noises from the CV's and the Rubber boots around the joints are not split meaning it still should be nicely packed with CV grease then the CV's should be fine, I have only seen CV's so worn that they no longer actually drive the car only on one occasion, so in my experience is rare to get to this extreme, I have also heard of driveshafts actually snapping as well but i have never personally seen this myself. Best Regards :P Big Dave -

i'm sure it's not the drivebelt or the CV's, but i can only speak about the noise i am experiencing on my car!!!!! -

hi jimbo, I have the same noise on my 96 Galaxy, i just put it down to having big wheels on it (Don't ask me why!!!) It isn't the sort of noise that can be explained clearly!!!, I rate myself as fairly handy at reparing vehicles but this has got me!! best regards daves -

Hi, I have a 2.0 Gal, 124k I have to add oil every 1100 miles or so, about half a litre or so, dosn't seem to have any leaks (Touch Wood!!!) so can only assume it gets burnt, the 2 litre engine does have to work quite hard to pull the such a car as the Galaxy (Hence probably why they introduced the 2.3 after a few years). As for the patch of oil that you have found, can you elaborate any more on your triangle casing??? Daves -

thanks bagpuss, thats helpful -
hi all, just a few points about my gal, (some of you will have already seen a badly taken pic a week or so ago!) 1. Changed the plugs on it before i went to pwlhelli on Monday afternoon (290 mile round trip), only got back 8.00pm thurs evening, noticed like a misfire when hot only happens VERY occasionally and did not really bother me to be honest, just thought it deserved a mention though (Yes i have changed the fuel filter) also remember the exact same symptom on my freinds 1.8 zetec mondeo??? seems to happen when the engine is hot and accelerating in a high gear but it does not do it all that often thankfully. 2. When steering lock to lock i.e when parking in our narrow driveway, i can hear like a clunk from the front end but can't quite put my finger on what it could be. 3. When starting up from cold i can hear like a tappet clatter from the engine it only lasts for about 2 seconds and disappers the same time the oil light goes out on the dash, the car has done this ever since i have owned it, i have been told it is the hydraulic cam chain tensioner building up pressure and i nothing to worry about but just want to know what you gurus think. (engine on 124k FFSH, until i got it and now it gets done by me  ) Thanks a lot people Yours Big Dave
