  1. Thanks for the reply Insider. My worries are more to do with the strength and reliability of the auto box. I've read so many comments that the 115bhp autobox is a bit fragile when it comes to towing that I wonder if the box on the VR6 engine is more capable. Any ideas? Regards TerryM
  2. A question for anyone! If one ignores fuel consumption is the V6 a better option for towing caravans in respect of torque and gear box reliability? Thanks
  3. Matt, you seem to bve pretty clued up about Galaxies and towing caravans. There appears to be a suggestion that the auto box on the diesel is at or close to its limit in terms of strength/reliability. Is the VR6 box any different? I.e are there any reports of box failures
  4. Hi There Just for interest....... The Touran is a mini mpv based on the Golf floorpan. The big 4wd is the Tuareg, not bad to drive but serious money.
  5. I will shortly be in the market for a Galaxy with which to tow my caravan. I presently have a 1995 Scorpio Cosworth Estate Auto which is great but is getting a bit long in the tooth. In addition ,with the van on the back it can scrape over humps in the road. My question is which model of Gal to go for. The 24v would be the first choice but I'm moving to Ireland next year and the Road tax on that size engine is just ridiculous, about
