  1. Cheers, will have a looksee. Merry Christmas!
  2. Thanks Greg. I think I'll do that. To remove remove and swap the handles from the outside, do I undo the screws that are by the latch?
  3. Thanks all, especially Wolfie. I'll be able to tackle it now, but it'll probably have to wait till after Christmas. Cheers!
  4. My drivers side door lock has gone. The key no longer locks the doors from the drivers door (but central locking works ok with the other doors, so I can lock the Gal). I can pull the lock barrel out when the key is turned anticlockwise. My problem is I don't know how to get the door card off to get at the inside of the lock. I'm guessing that a circlip has come off the barrel. I know there's an exellent post for this in the faq, but that's for a mark2. Anyone know how to remove a mark1 please? Thanks
  5. Does your booster heater work? If it's not working your engine will take a long time to heat up. Plenty of info on this site about the booster heater (somtimes called the auxillary heater). They are prone to failure, usually the glow plug. Can you hear the 'jet engine' sound at the nearside rear door? If not, then it's the booster heater.
  6. Woosh indeed! Like a new motor! Cheers.
  7. Got the Gal back from the dealer last night, they replaced the MAF and all is OK now.
  8. Here's 2 from our Paris trip last September.
  9. Is there any way of cleaning the MAF to revive it (assuming that it's clogged)? I saw something on the net about cleaning a MAF on a ford scorpio with injector/carb cleaner spray or isopropyl alcohol.
  10. Thanks mumof4 & NikpV. I'll let you all know how I get on with the Frauds dealer.
  11. Dear all I disconnected the MAF for the journey home and, hey presto! mucho power. Into the dealers with it, and they say, yeh bring it in to be sorted under warranty. So thanks for the help. Only thing is it's not getting fixed until the 19th Sept, so, is it OK to leave the naff MAF disconnected until then? Will it harm? Cheers!
  12. Thanks anadin & PhilT, really useful info, including the link to the MAF strip-out. I think I'll disconnect the MAF and see how it runs. At least I'll be able to 'help' the Fraud dealer with his diagnosis. I'll let you know how it goes. By the way, how I put my Gals details (2001 Galaxy 1.9Tdi (115ps) Auto 37k) at the bottom of the posts like others have done, is it in the My Controls section?
  13. Hi all, I've just bought a Gal, a 1.9TDi (115) Auto 2001. The 1st time I drove it was a trip to London, M1, M25 etc. Lovely to drive at 1st but after 60 miles it started to slow down on inclines. I wasn't too bothered as I don't expect formula 1 with a diesel, but when I got onto the M25 the speed dropped to 25mph on the inclines, which ain't steep, (I know, I know that's fast for the M25 ha ha!). HGVs and others, including a couple of Gals passed me by. Is this level of performance normal for this model? If not, any idea what could be wrong? It drives not too bad around town, not brilliant, but ok. I'm going to take it back to the Frauds dealer I bought it from to get them to check it out under warranty. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
