  2. Yes sounds like a sensor - they are about
  3. Hi - I done the exact same thing in February when we had the last load of snow - a very hard impact with the front wheel into a kerb- so hard that it stopped the front of the car and spun the rear round - all suspension and steering has been fine but the front wheel bearing seemed to be getting noisier so I had it changed as a precaution - you should keep an eye on yours. Darren
  4. Hi all, my windows keep misting up inside our galaxy, I have checked all the footwells and no damp patches, cleaned all the scuttle tray along the bulkhead (even removed the wiper linkage to do it) made sure the drains are all clear too. It seems to start misting up from the bottom of the screen on the passenger side and then the rest of the car windows quickly follow suit - next step is getting the climate control/air con re-gassed and a new pollen filter. This even happens in dry weather but is even worse in wet weather and I am running the heated screen and blowers with the rear quarters open to try and clear it. Is this just a generic problem with the Mk 1's or can I do something else to cure it? All suggestions welcome!! :) Darren
  5. Hi Mike, I have the same model and mine runs exaclty the same - it has never boiled over but sits around half way or dead center when I am driving but as soon as I get a bit of urban driving it rises up to the "M" in NORM and sits there, also the climate control in yours will mean the fans are always cutting in and out, even after turning off the engine. In summary - I think your car is normal for the model  Regards Darren
  6. Cheers Mike - I didn't know that about the air con - I will test that out and see if stops the fans starting up. I do get nervous when that quage starts to creep up... regards Darren
  7. Hi - my V6 Galaxy seems to run quite hot - we have had it 3 years now but it doesn't do a lot of miles - maybe 4000 a year as it's the wife's run around, it gets serviced once a year at my local garage and they haven't advised any issues but when I drove it last week the temperature guage went over the halfway mark to almost 2/3rds up and I wasn't sitting in traffic or driving slowly, another thing I noticed is that the fans cut in almost as soon as the car is started, for instance I can start the car while waiting on the kids getting seated and getting seat belts on then I hear the fans start up then run for 30 seconds then back off again...... Any ideas would be welcomed as I am off to Cornwall in it next month so want it running as it should be for that trip. Regards Darren
  8. Thanks for the link - will skin my knuckles on this at the weekend  Cheers Darren
  9. Hi - thanks for the reply - have found the pollen filter and could see that there was a load of mulch around it that I couldn't see without the aid of a torch, so I fashioned a long thin pipe and taped to the hoover nozzle and got it right into that scuttle tray, I was amazed at the amount of tree debris that was laying in there all damp and decaying but there is no way of knowing if I got all the mulch out but it's defo a lot better! that pollen filter should have been changed at the last service but I was wondering how you access it??? through the back of the glove box maybe?? Other members may well want to check that they have got this tray completely clear - I thought I had! You need to look in there with a torch and see if it is free of dead leaves etc. Regards Darren
  10. Hi - My Mk1 V6 Galaxy has started misting up all the windows and it takes ages to clear - for instance if it's raining I have to keep the blower fully on and the heated screen on all the time just to keep the front screen and front side windows clear, the rest are almost dripping with moisture. Has this last winter as well ;) I have checked the carpets and they are all dry. Have cleared all the dead leaves out the scuttle and keep the drianage clear in this area. Had the air con (it has Climate) tested in the summer and it's ok (has never been great but think that's typical of the model) I keep the air con on (not on ECON mode) and the screen blower selected on the control panel. What else could it be ???? Darren
  11. I think it will say what model it is on the V5 log book? The "ghia X" badges are easy to buy off ebay so I wouldn't go on those alone but if you have all the toys like both rear quarters open and heated front seats then it's a safe bet you have the Ghia X. The cloth seats on the Ghia X have a thicker pile on the unpatterned part, they "stripe" as you hoover them. On the roof vents question - I have a Ghia with this option, there is a vent above each of the 5 rear seats that blows cold or warm air (controlled from the climate control panel in the front) but I understand that you can't have a sunroof as well as these roof vents as all the ducting flattens out to go across the roof lining etc. Hope that helps
  12. Hi All, I was just taking my air filter out of my Mk1 V6 Galaxy and noticed that one of my pipes (breather?) running along nect to the filter unit has a broken t-piece section, the t-piece itself looks likes a smaller pipe (4mm) branching off a length of slightly larger pipe (6mm), with the engine running the smaller pipe is sucking air and if you stickyour finger over the end of it the engine idle seems to change.....thelargerpipe looks like a breather maybe that runs from the top of the engine to somewhere round the back of the engine. I hope from that description someone can tell me what it does and if it is having any effect on my engine performance and economy? And is it a ford dealer only part? Regards Darren.
  13. Thanks Guys, nice to be aboard :D Darren.
  14. Hi to everyone, thought I would introduce myself as I joined a few days ago and have already found the site a great help. We have a Mk 1 Galaxy Ghia 2.8 V6 auto, in Melina Blue. We are the 2nd owners and had it for 10 months now and apart from a fault on the cruise control (yes it was the pipe) it has been perfect, Only covered 4000 miles in her as my wife uses the car mainly for the weekly shopping trip but very impressed with the car so far and of course very impressed with all the help available on here. Regards Darren Bell (Belldarr)
