Hi everyone, I am looking to replace my brilliant old T reg, 188K on the clock, will be having it checked over to see if it is going to cost more than its worth (ABS /Brake lights on, erratic starting possibly starter motor, starting to shudder before it changes down gear up hill...it's had a new cam belt. Me , mt wife , mum and dad(who did a load of picking up / dropping off with my 3 kids for years) all loved this car and we are all very happy to replace it with another. I've even seen a 2001 Tdi ghia that I would have a look at. I just wanted to get advice on what's out there (they've obviously moved on from my model, for better or worse) and what to look for/avoid having been in a time warp for the last 10 years with my galaxy. Any Advice or links on the the dash board lights for the fuel guage or the gear change (I'm taking Seanwhu's advice and leaving the gear change unless you come up with a fool proof remedy with a link....) At least I'll be able to do the clock, thanks guys.

How do you get the clock out of the front part of the roof ? Do you pop a screw driver behind it? I don't want to cause damage way more than the cost of a bulb!

Thanks Seanwhu, I will try and pop the clock out. The dash board dimmer works, it's the individual instrument illumination that is missing, really annoying. The missing illumination for the auto gear shift is very irritating too, even though we've been driving the car for over 10 years!

My old galaxy is losing illumination on the dash board, can't read the fuel guage at night, the clock in the roof panel light is out, the auto gear shift not illuminated. Last night the speedo went out and came back on. Any advice on how to correct these things? By the way I am not to handy... Grateful for a steer, should it be bulbs that are easy to fix , how? Or I will leave it alone. Something else I noticed is that when travelling at steady revs, the rev counter jumps by about 3-5000 every 15-25 seconds, whats that all about (it has done 187K and we still love it).

Tried to change the bulb on my T reg TDi, dropped the bloody clip and lost it (cold hands and frayed temper!) Anyone know where to buy a replacement. Ever grateful Wizza

Hi all, Grateful for advice re my high brake light that has packed up on my T reg TDi . A bulb warning light has come on the instrument panel, I've checked all the bulbs in the high brake light and they all look intact, as do the two wires coming out of the roof lining and the connector. The lower brake lights are working.I tried checking the fuses but couldn't quite align the fuses to the hand book. I was looking for fuse 20 which should have been a 10 but I found a working 25 in what I thought was 20. Checked either side and all fuses are ok. Any other advice? Regards Wizza

Hi guys, I'm hoping that someone can give me a clue as to what might be wrong with my cruise control. It seems to have gone into working sporadiclally mode and now packed up! I'm off on hols soon to Cornwall and was looking forard to using it on the long journey. I had a scan through some of the cruise control topics but they seemed to be for petrol versions that use a vacuum and pipe set up? Grateful for your advice. Regards Wizza
