  2. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I need to tightened the alternator belt on a 1.9 tdi sharan 99. And to be frank I can't see how to do it. Any light greatly received.
  3. Hi russ b I have a 99 VW Sharan 110 tdi. Ours suffered with this problem and would start fine once warm but didn't want to know when cold, and I too changed the glow plugs and the battery before I gave up and took it to the dealer. The dealer changed the engine temperature sender The part number is V357 919 501A Since then no problems. Hope this helps
  4. Ivor is right You have to undo the bleed nipple and then push the piston back. Because of the ABS valves you have to then bleed the brakes in the usual way. Dulux
  5. Can anyone one shed any light on why my sharan is getting difficult to start only when warm ?Runs fine at all other times ? 1999 TDii 110 Carat

  8. I wonder if anyone can shed light on this ? I have a 99 110 tdi Sharan. When the car is first started in the morning it will take 3 to 4 seconds before firing. This has only recently been happening. The temperature outside makes no difference. Once the car has been started for the first time it then restarts immediately for the rest of that days use no matter how many times the car is restarted. I have replaced the glow plugs to no effect and wonder if I'm missing something else.
  9. This may be a red herring but our sharan sometimes suffers from a similar noise which I have tracked to the right hand cooling fan. The bearing must be wearing and it squeals like you have described. Revving the engine makes no difference to the pitch. A quick spray with WD40 soon shuts it up :)
  10. Hi there You don'y say which engine you have or how big the can of oil is but I used to have an AUDI S4 Quattro 98 and that would use 1 litre every 1000 miles. Local dealer said that oil usage was 'acceptable'. Hope this helps
  11. I have had my sharan done by Pentagon. What a great company. Bristol branch did it for
  12. Definitely sounds that its the idle speed control valve. I used to have a vectra and the valve used to fail every 2 months. Crap cheap parts used in construction. Vauxhall charge
  13. Hi there stevej Not sure of the exact fitting but if its 4 holes 2 each side then a wire coat hanger cut and bent into a U will do the job. Insert into all holes at the same time and push until you feel some resistance ( no further than an inch ) Push both U's towards the outer door and pull the unit at the same time. And hey presto the unit will slide forward. You do not need to have the U's in place to replace the unit but do push until an audible 'click' is heard to relocate the unit. Sorry I can't be more sure about the 4 holes but I've got a '99 110 TDI sharan and its got a factory fitted sony so different fittings to the one's I've just described. :o Cheers dulux72
  14. As I have a sharan I can say that VW Loders of Yeovil are A1 when it comes to service. I have had Audi 80's, A4's, Golfs and now the sharan and never been disappointed with the service :(
  15. I have a sharan with climate control. In the manual it advise that the ac is put on full blast for 3 mins every month to stop the bliud up of any smells
  16. The middle seat lap belt was replaced by a 3 point on the revamp 2000 -2001 About time if you ask me
  17. The labour cost seems high but its hardly surprising when the hourly rate at our local vw dealer is
  18. I have just replaced the MAF sensor on my 99 VW sharan 1.9 TDI 110. Car had been sluggish above 3000 rpm. Bloody expensive
