  1. Thanks for the info Dave...one final question - can you remember roughly how much it cost for the remap? Found quite a substantial oil leak from somewhere last night, the felt undertray is soaked through. Meant to be going on holiday tomorrow but looks like we're cancelling. Now need to make a call on whether to put more cash into keeping this thing on the road or flogging it. If I persevere with the car then I guess it will be worth a remap as we'll hopefully keep it for a few years. I'm hoping to not have to buy and sell again as we've been through 3 other failed cars in the last 2 years and lost about 8,000 quid for the fun of it. Meanwhile my old Toyota Avensis never skips a beat, drives beautifully and does 50MPG. If only Japanese did decent sized MPVs...
  2. Hi Davetech, which chip are you using and roughly how much was it, if you don't mind me asking? If you were getting 50 before it sounds like it's running better than ours then, especially as you say that the lower BHP should have meant more fuel usage. Sounds like there's something not right with ours, although the Ford mechanic said it's the normal mpg. I wonder if there's an EGR issue. I've checked for brakes sticking, and it has new filters etc.
  3. Hi all, first post here goes. I'm British but living in the Czech Republic. I have just bought a 2012 Galaxy, originally registered in Germany, imported here in 2013. It has come with the touchscreen stereo with reversing camera etc. The language is currently in Czech on the stereo but English on the Convers+ system. English is not available from the list of languages, although, interestingly, if I put it into French for example, it then gives me the option of 'Anglais' on the language menu. Selecting this, however, returns it to Czech. It therefore appears English has been overwritten. Any ideas on how to manually get in there and change it? If I connect a laptop to the USB and run some sort of software am I going to be able to get into the nuts and bolts of the system? Spoke to a local garage who said they couldn't do it, but I'm sure it has been changed at some point so must be possible to change it back surely...
  4. Cheers Sparky Paul I've moved it now..
  5. Hi all. Just got a 2012 Galaxy with the 2.2TDCI 200BHP engine (automatic) with 70,000miles on the clock. The economy is horrendous, well under 30MPG with extremely gentle driving and no hard acceleration. We live on the edge of town so I guess we're not giving it cruising speed on the highways but also it's not stop start driving. For a modern diesel engine I'd expect much more - like the 55mpg we got on our VW Caddy. Does anyone with a similar motor get comparable figures? Is it possible to de-tune it as we have no need for all that horsepower? I know that 2.2 TDCI had a varient with better mpg and lower BHP though it's not coupled to the auto box I think. Any other suggestions? Otherwise it's a decent enough motor. Loath to get rid so soon as we just had it serviced but also cannot afford an extra 80-90 quid a month for diesel. It had an inspection by Ford as well and they said it's running perfectly.
