  1. I'm in love with my Galaxy! Yes I've had a few issues with it, but it's by far the best all round car I've had. I've had nippier cars but this one just eats the miles at cruising speed. The driving position and visibility is top, and the Ghia X has all the mod cons! I'm a vintage Vee Dubber at weekends, so the Galaxy keeps my soul happy but with modern reliability and comfort! <heave> I sound like a advert...
  2. I don't know exactly where the problem was, but I had plenty of power in gears 1-3 but was lacking on inclines in 4&5. Ford didn't specify exactly what in the turbo was wrong - I'm just overjoyed that I'm fixed (for now?). The previous owner had the problem, but it didn't occur for me until 3/4 weeks after I bought it (partially corrected by the pre-sale service?). I negotiated for a better warranty having spoken to the prior owner (I read his phone no off the service history) and that has saved me a bucket of money. I not particularly engine savvy - particularly engines with computerised management systems! - so I have no idea what the core problem was.
  3. Well it took about a month but we did it! I was experiencing the same problems as many of you - power loss on inclines in fourth or fifth gears - no trouble on the flat. My local Ford (Allen Ford Upminster) replaced the MAF sensor, three fuel injectors and the "turbo booster valve" all to no avail, and so they contacted Ford proper to get advice from on high. They were told that it was an internal fault in the turbo and that the whole turbo needed replacement. This was done and one week on it looks like this problem is sorted (famous last words). Fortunately, I'm still under warranty, otherwise I would be somewhat out of pocket.
  4. Following my previous post, one MAF sensor and three fuel injectors later we still have a problem. At least now, Ford have managed to make it happen in a test environment (I get a feeling they hadn't before) so they know what they are supposed to be fixing...
  5. A word of warning - I have had my MAF sensor and three fuel injectors replaced in order to "cure" the self same problem, but so far no joy. As we speak (write?) Ford are busy testing to try and locate the cause.
  6. Hi Oilboy! I'm having the exact same problem. The first thing my local Ford service centre did was replace the MAF sensor, but that did nothing. I took the car back and now they say I need 3 new fuel injectors - I am currently waiting for them to be ordered in. Thankfully I'm still under warranty (bought an 98R second hand in May). Interestingly, the previous owner had the self same problem, but following the pre-collection service it disappeared for about 3-4 weeks (and about 2000 miles). I will let you know how the fuel injector swap goes - have you had any luck yet?
