OK clearly I am a numpty! I was testing with the drivers door open. Shut the door and it works properly. Ah well :) Thanks for the responses though :y

Hi Everyone, just joined and I hope someone can help! I own a 2004 Mk2 Galaxy and the plastic surround of the drivers window switch had broken meaning I could not close the drivers window. All other switches worked correctly. Rather foolishly perhaps, I tried a VW switch unit as a replacement, it looked identical - but on trying it out it will only move windows in the up direction regardless of which way the switch is pushed. I put the original unit back in and now it behaves the same way! Also the central locking switch is not functioning. I am wondering if my experimenting has blown fuse 75. Hoping for a bit of validation before I start dismantling the dash! Many Thanks, James.
