  1. My Galaxy's (1.9 TDi Zetec (w)2000) engine developed a major fault yesterday, horrible clunking noise and loss of power. Local garage reckons its lost compression on No 4 cylinder (but doesnt knw why as its unusual on a galaxy) and it needs major engine rebuild or replacement engine but said he doesnt think its worth it as looking at over
  2. Driving in town yesterday evening, just set off from traffic lights and heard/felt a loudish crack, car still drives but vibrates on acceleration, mileage curently 90k. Any ideas & likely cost? Thanks
  3. Hi, My wiper linkage is slowing down a lot now, need to replace it or do the strip out & refurb. Considering the most complex job I've done before now is changing a wheel or fitting new bulbs, how hard of a job is it to do? Thought about buying replacement but local Fords want
  4. Thanks, will give it a try!
  5. Thanks for the replies, sorted the 2nd problem, it was down to a faulty connection on the negative terminal, changed the terminal clamp & ok now. Clamping the battery in place still not fixed but now know why, the old battery had a square lip at bottom but the new battery (and all batteries I've looked at) have a angled lip at bottom, my battery clamp is designed for the old one! http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b112/arnie70/untitled.jpg Have jammed a bit of wood under clamp to hold it in place for time being. Will I be able to get a different clamp?
  6. Had to jump start my gal a couple of mornings in the last few weeks. Had battery tested & it on its last legs. Went to my local Ford's and have got new battery, but got a couple of problems! 1 - new battery won't clamp in place?? Does the new battery need to be exact diamensions of old one? 2 - When tried starting car with new battery, turned on ignition, dials on dash went mad & just a clicking sound, engine never attempted to turn? So put old battery back in & started no probs? Confused!!
  7. Got an ABS warning light showing, local garage has said its the O/S/F speed sensor and has quoted me
  8. Thanks for that, I will have a search!
  9. My Gal has developed a small problem. It has began to struggle to start and when switching ignition off the radiator fan kicks in for about 20-30 seconds (even if only been on a 2 min journey!). Recently had it MOT'd, passed fine, I mentioned these probs they think problems are linked & some sensor playing up somewhere, but they said it could be a bugger to find and would have to go on there computer (think they charge bout
  10. Give my Gal bit of a xmas treat yesterday, was trying to swap wheels from front to back to even out tyre wear. The locking wheel nut on front drivers side was stuck solid, give it a bit of elbow grease & the bugger came apart! :) Any tips on how to remove it now?? Thanks
  11. Thanks for that, looks like a trip to Ford's as I only have 1 black key. :25:
  12. My Mrs has just passed her driving test so gonna let her drive my Galaxy  (I must be mad!). Only have the one key for my car, so going to get a spare key. Went to local key cutters in town, he said key can't be copied , that I would have to go to Ford dealer - he reckons about
  13. I too have had the creaking steering on n/s. Took it to my trusted garage they changed the anti-roll bar link arm (
