  1. How did you get on mate?
  2. Water in the fuel filter. Get a new fuel filter put on add some wynns dry fuel and fill up with bp ultimate or shell vpower. Supermarket fuels are bad
  3. StuF.. .. have you replaced it with a silver calcium battery? If not... oops. Ford have a stupid fast/boost charge facility off the alternator which needs the correct battery. Start the car and check the voltage across the battery terminals.. if over 14/15 volts (my brother in laws was over charging at 17volts and wouldn't actually charge), turn the car off, disconnect the 3 pin plug off the alternator, restart and check again. If it's drops to sensible voltage look inside that plug and I bet it's corroded. Only a fiver off eBay to replace or Ford quoted him 250 plus battery and altenator. I replaced the plug a year ago and nothing else and it's worked fine ever since.
  4. Cheers. Will look into it again
  5. Been away for a while. I will need tree software and know how too mate. Bit out of touch with computers now (wouldn't think I used to build them for friends and family back in the day)
  6. Check the fuel filter, check you are getting fuel down to the injectors (crack a pipe at a time whilst someone else starts it, make sure there's no air in the line) Other than that id be going for the starter motor
  7. Silly question but have you put the batteries in the right way round?
  8. I will have a look at the bushes. Cheers
  9. Might be a long shot but I had a similar problem with a laguna and I was adamant it wasn't the starter. But when we pushEd it, it started everytime. 2 month later in the cold the starter packed up. Worth a punt?
  10. The front shockers had collapsed and the bushes were shot as were the top mounts and 1 track rod end and both drop links. So these were changed, then 4 wheel tracking was done. The car now pulls to the left when driving on the motorway but the steering wheel has to be held at 1 o clock. It is livable around town but I'm married to a Cockney so have to do a 500+ mile round trip at least once a month to the outlaws so it will be very annoying. I took it back to the same garage who tracked it for me who have re checked it and everything is bang on straight when they use the two wheel tracking system but when they put the 4 wheel alignment on, the rears are out by different amounts. I can't remeber the exact figure but I haven't got the back of the car up yet so was wondering where to start before I start slowly slitting my wrists
  11. I've had my 04 gal 1.9tdi ghia tracked but been told something is out on the back with no indication as to what. Where do I start? It's already had - amongst other things - front and rear shockers, front drive shafts, front top strut mount bushes and bearings, front arb drop links, lower ball joints, track rod ends, front wishbone bushes. Help?
  12. Is there a non return return valve at the pump/fuel tank end that is starting to fail?
  13. Well spotted batman. Didn't read the "happening HOT or cold" bit. My bad
  14. Check glow plugs or if not it's a faulty starter
  15. You won't know until you take the door card off. It might just be the cable has fallen off.... (hopefully)
  16. Also check the egr isn't clogged with soot as that can cause power loss, although I wouldn't expect oil from this problem,so again pointing to failing turbo clogging the egr with oil and soot mixture
  17. Over revving and oil leak suggests the turbo has failed mate. I'd get it looked at asap and get the turbo replaced before it blows and throwsee debris into the engine clogging the pick up and the oil pumps. Another tell tale sign is oil in the exhaust tail but the car mm exhaust might be too long for this to show unless it's gone big style
  18. No. From what I know it is something to do with a cold start charge. So when the engines cold it gives off a boost charge until the sensors tell the engine it's warm enough then it reverts to a normal charge. If you change the battery and your car has a smart charge then you MUST make sure it's a silver calcium battery otherwise you will destroy the battery, alternator and most of your electrical relay boxes in the car. Have a look if you have the 3 pin plug and get back to me
  19. Have you checked the top rubber strut mounts and cup washers?
  20. I had this problem. It's a bad connection where the cables go brittle. Mine is usually at the rear. I wiggle wires and give them a little push back towards the sensor. Turn the igntin off for about 10 minutes then try again.... voila. I know I need to change the plug but just being lazy. Will do it when it dies completely. Had to change the plug on the drivers front under the headlight because the noise was doing my head in. Hope this helps
  21. There isn't usually a problem with the alternator. Test by removing the 3 pin plug and then test voltage. If voltage is fairline stable look for a broken wore on that harness or replace the plug. You cannot clean them. I tried with wd40 and an electrical contact cleaner. Neither worked
  22. Ford alternators have a smart charge. Had very similar problems with my brother in laws fiesta and his dads focus. I fixed them both with a new smart charge plug...... ford wanted 400+ for a new alternator and harness. Told them where to go before hunting for a broken cable myself- didn't find one except corrosion on the 3 pinot smart plug. £5 off ebay. Never had a problem with it since.
  23. What size engine do you have? Petrol/diesel, manual/auto etc. Have you checked your brakes aren't binding? Check your rear calipers. Don't understand the temperature thing tho. What temperature are you getting? How long is it taking to get up there? Is the water level ok? When did you change the water pump and timing belt?
