  1. I have a Mk2 Galaxy with the original CD/Radio. The CD long packed up so was removed from the rear storage area. What I would like to do is very simply (i think). I simply want to connect a 2.5mm Female Jack plug into the back of the stereo somewhere? so that I can connect a simply mp3 player feed and use the CD button or some other perhaps to listen to external music. Is this simply to do. Anyone who of which bits I need and where to connect please?
  2. Same issue happened to me tonight. With engine approaching 110K , I thought it was going to be diesel injectors or something. Can believe its such a simple solution, especially when manual talks about flashing coil being engine fault. Great Forum . Thanks
  3. The dash is completely in bits again now and the problem has been identified. The main motor that controls the main 3 way venting (i.e from windscreen to feet) is not moving to the extent it should. With the motor removed, you can manually (and easily) move the vents mechanism to its full extent. With the motor attached and controlled by the climate control panel, the motor just will not move far enough in either direction, therefore the vents do not open and close fully. When I had the shorting wiring (that goes to the climate control panel) a month ago, it was thought initially that the panel was faulty. A new one was tried by Ford and the panel was eliminated. Then the shorting wiring was found. Ford reset and reprogrammed the panel and I suspect at this stage that they perhaps have done something wrong in this. The server motor seems OK, the gear box on it is tight and theres no play, the motor is quiet and moves smoothly. It just seems the panel is not telling it to move far enough in either direction. Back to the Ford garage today to be tested and see if the panel was re programmed incorrectly.
  4. Its simply a case of gently forcing the surrounding housing out. There are about 6-8 little plastic loops which clip into metal clips. Each time you pull it out, expect a couple to break off but it doesn't matter too much. I have just got back from the garage where mine is remove again. I have one loop left, but they have put lumps of epoxy resin behind the loops which holds it into the clips in the same way. Garages used what look like nylon tyre levers to remove the vents, as they do not scratch or damage the facia.

  6. Dodge, Your explanation and the terms you used are spot on and what I was trying to explain thanks..
  7. Having found these forums extremely informative, in my 9 months of Aircon hell, I thought I would just write a quick precis in the hope that someone else might save a few hundred quid and a lot of aggravation. I have posted a few comments in this post http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=2227 and it seems at least one other has had the same problem as me, without perhaps knowing exactly what the cure was. Basically, I have a 2001 1.9tdi Galaxy Ghia with climate control. From day one(second hand) it did not work and I had the flashing panel. Into an Aircon specialist and the pump was found to be seized. It wa duely replaced and re gassed.. About 7 days later, panel was flashing again and in for testing. Vacum tested OK refilled again as all gas had gone. A squirt of luminesant die added and drove away. A week later same again, but no trace what so ever of any die leaking out. This repeated another 3 or 4 times, each time refilled tested, and a week later, no gas again. As the complete engine bay area of the aircon system could be seen, it was assumed that the evaporator under the dashboard was leaking. 2 days work,
  8. Hi all picked Gal up from garage today (had it since Tuesday) it had been into frauds for them to diagnose the problem it turns out the condenser was duff!!!!! had a new one fitted and there seems to be a lot more resistance on the compressor now than before when it was just regassed. Hopefully problem solved and job done (arent warranties great?) hi Biscuit, Will you please keep me posted on this one. My Aircon garage swear there is nothing wrong with condensor. When you say it was duff, what do you mean. was it holed somewhere. I'm loosing all the gas every 7-10 days, yet no sign of dye leaking from condensor. seems this and the compressor are the most common things to go wrong. I'm very intested to know if you loose the gas again. GalaxyBox
  9. BISCUIT, I don't mean this in a horrible way but I'm so glad that I am not the only one experiencing gas leakage(the aircon type). I have had a 2001 1.9 TDI since May 2006. It had a broken compressor when I bought it and no gas in the system. 6 Months later, and following 13 visits to two different Aircon specialists, it still does,'t work. Compressor was fixed fine for about
  10. Sorry for the stupid Q, but I can't find the manual at present. My 2001 Galaxy has just been in for the usual, "whys the climate control not working" issue, during which time the garage said they removed the front os headlamp to check for leaks (long story, don't ask). When I drove it away with leak found and fixed(tiny bit of grit in one of the refill values), the front indicator no longer works(and rear flashes twice as fast). Before I go accusing them of breaking a wire etc, I just want to check the bulb, but how? I can just about see the back of the bulb assembly behind, the headlamp, but how the hell do I get the bulb out? Looks like I have to unbolt the wing at the moment
  11. I have just bought a Thule EUROCLASSIC PRO 903 cycle carrier (and 4th Bike adapter) which fits on my Galaxy towbar and looks extremely neat. Takes less than five minutes to load up with 4 bikes and away. I have just bought mine from "Faster Online" which was the cheapest I could find and fast service. Have a look here http://www.fasteronline.co.uk/Thule-towbar...4eff84b4419dcd8 Check out the company name on ebay as they have an ebay shop and I got mine
