  1. Hi Does anybody out there happen to know the part number for a rear drivers side ABS wheel sensor? I am told it is a TEVES item, and is the same as fitted to a Scopio, which I may be able to lay my hands on cheap. Thanks 99 V reg 1.9TDi
  2. Hi Dieselalhambra To test the sensors I traced back from each sensor to the electrical connector, disconnected the small connectors, (in the wheelarch for the front wheels and underneath the Gal for the rear wheels). Each sensor only has 2 pins, so I did a continuity check (resistance) check with the multimeter on the 2K range. Previous posts here had suggested the resistance should be around 1Kohm. Results were: 3 X 1.076 Kohm 1 X open circuit - I did check for resistance up into the Megohms range but it still showed open cct. So my logic says that I must have a duff sensor!! It meant a bit of crawling about under the Gal for the rear ones, but once you get under there, its fairly strightforward to find everything. The 2 rear sensor connectors are almost next to each other, tucked away about 4 ft from the back along the centreline of the vehicle, in the region where the handbrake cable splits. Hope this helps!! linkgreen
  3. Hi again Finally got round to checking the wheel sensors. 3 of them con check at around 1Kohm, but the rear drivers side shows open circuit. It looks pretty easy to change Does anybody know the best place to pick one up and at what kind of price? Is the scappies an option? Assuming this does clear the fault - do I need to reset the fault codes/abs system somehow? Thanks linkgreen
  4. Hi again Thanks MM Just checked F7 -blown- replaced it- cigette lighter now works- wife can charge phone again!!!!!!!! I bow to your superior knowledge. What are you like on abs????? Thanks A Humble linkgreen
  5. hello again MM I got F35 from previous posts here- I'm now going to check F7 as soon as my wife returns in the Gal. Velcrohead I'm in the NW - just outside Chester- perhaps a bit far but thanks anyway!! link
  6. Hi I've checked the 2 fuses under the drivers seat previously - and they are fine!! Thanks anyway
  7. Hi again I've checked the sensor wiring- unplugged cleaned and reconnected, abs light is still on! Checked the brake lights are satis- they are! abs light still on! Checked the relevant fuses( 9,10 & 28) - all satis, abs light still on! Previous posts talk of modulator, control box and brake pedal switches. Can someone tell me where these are and what, if anything I can do to check them!! PS Whilst I was in the fuse box I had another look for fuse 35 for the cigarette lighter and I still can't find it- last time I took the complete fuse box out and split it and still couldn't see it- I'm not doing very well at the moment!!!!!! Thanks in advance
  8. Hi Paul Whats all this about sensor rings and hubs? Is it obvious once I get my head in there and have a good look? Are you saying it could be a case of just cleaning some crud off? Paul G
  9. Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I don't have a friend with the diagnostics, but I'll certainly look at the sensors/wiring first. I recently changed the oil, so I may have disturbed something in the wheel area taking the sump guard off, but it's been over a week since I did that, and the fault only appeared today. The weather here is also bad, so I will be lucky to look at it tomorrow. Have you changed your brake fluid recently? Could this be an issue? If I find anything I'll let you know. Thanks linkgreen
  10. Hi This morning my wife returned from dropping our daughter at work, and asked "what does the ABS light mean?" "MONEY" I replied. Sure enough the abs lamb is permanently on. As soon as the ignition is switched on the lamp comes on and fails to extinguish. Previously it went out after 2-3 seconds, but now it just stays there. I know its a safety thing and an mot failure so I am obviously keen to sort it. The brakes have felt a little spongey recently - could it be the fluid ? or is it more likely one of the wheel sensors? I've not had any problems previously with abs and know very little about it. I assume there is a control box and pump as well????? Any ideas Thanks Linkg
  11. Thanks for that I dropped the whole fuse panel out and couldn't see anything. Are you saying that the fuses are above the fuse panel but below the dash, or are they actually part of the fuse panel itself? I'll have a look again tomorrow. thanks again
  12. Hi I have a 1999 1.9TDi The cigarette lighter and both 12V accesory sockets in the back are not woking. I have cheked the 2 fuses under the drivers seat, both of which are ok, dropped the fuse panel to look for F35 but can't find it. I can however see some maxi fuses and a few relays at the back!! Does this mean i have to find relay K160 or is the F35 lurking somewhere else? If it is a relay change , where is it and can i check it out before replacing it? My fuse box appears different to the ones mentioned on the site. Mine has a row of fuses along the bottom and some mini fuses up the left hand side, with no sign of relays on the front of the box!! Have I bought a dud? Many thanks to all you boffins.
  13. Hi Thanks for the help. Ive checked further and the problem appears to be the passenger door. The central locking seemed to work fine from the drivers door, however when I tried the key in the passenger door the key just turned loosely and nothing happened!! So I guess its a mechanical problem with the linkage, I'll invest again when my wife lets me have the car again (I'm stuck with an old Citroen ZX for work) I also found that the windows go down from the divers door but not up when utilising this global windows thing!? thanks for the advice - great help. PG
  14. Hi I've a problem with my 1999 1.9TDi The led in the drivers door no longer flashes and the indicators no longer flash when the vehicle is locked!! I assume this means that the pats isn't set. We only have 2 keys, and it is the same symptoms for both. The vehicle starts and runs as normal but I'm a little worried/ confused!! Can any body enlighten me? Thanks PG
  15. Hi again I hope this cures your fault and everything now runs perfectly, and hopefully you found Lynx good to deal with. I agree about the price. I was glad to get it for
