  1. Thanks for the reply and right you are. I did notice a loose vacuum pump when I popped the bonnet, probably due to a brain fade by the guy who changed my clutch a while back. Not knowing it was attached to the oil pump drive shaft I proceeded to take the sump off to check the pump/ oil pickup. That was when I saw them connected . At least I only wasted time and not money and it needed an oil change anyway. Job done and the old dear keeps soldiering on.
  2. Hi Guys, I'm new to posting on the forum but have used useful info on here to help keep my ageing beast on the road, so thanks to all. My question of the day is does anyone know where the oil pressure relief valve is on my 2000 Mk1 ? 110 bhp Galaxy 1.9 Tdi ? i suddenly lost oil pressure the other day, the oil light came on (flashing I think with an audible alarm) and the engine sounded rattly at the top end so I am assuming either the relief valve or blocked pick up pipe or maybe knackered oil pump ( but I would have thought that would fail gradually) . Its not smoking, oil level is OK and both high and low pressure switches are open circuit with the engine off. Any ideas as I often miss the bleedin' obvious ? Cheers
