Hi Maybe this has been covered already , Last weekend on the motorway I heard a strange noise like a loud hiss , then there was a smoky smell followed by a little smoke leading to lots of smoke so had to stop on the hard shoulder and be road rescued. The tow truck guy seemed to think it was the turbo for some reason to do with oil burning through the exhaust. Currently the car is in a depot waiting to be taken to a garage for inspection. The car is a 2001 model 1.9 tdi trend model with around 140 k on the clock - not worth much these days so am hoping for reasonable news when its looked at. anybody else had the same type of thing happen ? if so what was the outcome ? any collateral damage ?
