I had this problem. Likely the small plastic taps (fuel return line) in the injector nozzles leak diesel over the engine. If you pull the plastic engine cover, you are likely to see some diesel pooling under injectors. Apparently this is an known issue; I had mine repaired at the shop, so it will be their problem if some of those plastic connectors break. (The shop had to take another attempt at this as the initial replacement kit installation didn't fix it right away)
