Havent changed a head on the galaxy or on anything since a triumph spitfire 15 years ago but if you do change it i would get your own head checked by an engineering shop and reskimmed if necessary in case its warped. Otherwise you run the risk of the same symptoms over again if its head-related.

Also, i'd suggest checking the little plastic valve in the return hose of the expansion bottle. Mine was almost totally blocked, causing lack of circulation, cold heater, and lots of expansion bottle pressure. I cleared mine and its made a big difference although i suspect i might still have head problems!

A couple of weeks ago i paid a mobile mechanic

Both radiator fans arent ever working even when engine temp is over 100 and air con is on so im trying to find out why. Underneath the engine bay fuse box ive found the fan relay 1701 with two connectors from the loom. One connector shows 12v but the other only 1.7. Is this normal? The right-hand fan has 12v at the plug and will start if connected direct to battery. The other has no power. Ive checked fuses in cabin and engine bay and they seem fine.
