  1. Hi guys! Thanks to you both for your prompt replies! Took Viperclive's advice and despite my confidence in the wiring in the door post, actually took the plug off again AND pulled the gaiter back. Lo and behold, there was a broken wire (a thickish brown wire) broken. Furthermore, a thickish red/yellow wire was hanging on by two strands too! A quick repair with two butt connectors and it is fixed. Very grateful - many thanks.
  2. I know regular contributors to this forum will perhaps be tired of this subject - I have read of similar problems but I can't seem to find an answer. The electric window in the Driver's door stopped working. When the switch is activated, there is a click noise from somewhere, and the hazard warning lights flash three times! The passenger door works fine. I have read the forum contributions and, even with my limited knowledge of electrics, the common 'fault with the door gaiter connector' seemed to be favourite, so I disconnected the multi-plug on the car side of the door loom. No loose wires and it all looked clean, no corrosion but nevertheless wiped the connectors with a bit of emery so confident that this connector is fine. So, thinking it must be a seized motor on the window regulator, had the door card off and eventually exposed the motor. Making a final check, tried the switch again and could hear a sort of squeak from the motor/winch mechanism so almost sure it was a regulator problem. So sure, that I spent a while taking the regulator out which is not easy if the glass is fully up, and ordered a replacement on ebay. So, before I re-fitted the replacement unit, I plugged it on to the wiring loom in the door and found exactly the same problem as the previous one. No movement, just a squeak! Any ideas greatly appreciated.
