  1. Ladies and gents. A huge thank you for your help in this. I have finally found the problem. A wire that should go to the heated washer wipers (not fitted on my car) had broken onto where the bonnet closes. This caused the short. I spliced it together and no more fuses blowing. The ac is working well now. It seems it worked all along!!! Thanks so much guys for your advice. Without it I would still not know where to look.
  2. No I didn't. I have a good look at these on Monday. Thanks again for your help.
  3. Update!!! Managed to splice a couple of wires in the door loom that had broken. A small wire that immediately lit up the door safety light on the off side rear door and on both the nearside and offside door electric window wires that were broken. I still have not got my side lights coming on. I place the 5a fuse in socket 19 and pop! It blew again. I cannot see any more split or broken wires in the door loom. This is so frustrating.
  4. There are a few broken wires in my door gators, I will fix them first as this hopefully will be the problem. Then if not move onto the other suggestions. Thanks so much for the advice guys. Really appreciate it.
  5. Oh yes. My side lights stopped working about six months ago when I changed the left hand headlight bulb.
  6. That's great intel. Thanks. I don't have xenon lights.
  7. To be honest I am convinced the ac control works. It must be shorting out from somewhere else. Just don't know where to start!
  8. Yes. It's definitely number 19.
  9. That's great. Thanks a tonne. The fuse is number 19 and a 5a fuse. I know, as I've used about ten up!!! I'm at my wits end with this ac!
  10. Also! The old unit I thought was broken does not flash on and off when I start the car. Also when I press the buttons it does seem to make a sound as though something is switching on. I am starting to think the old unit is not broken, but something else in the system seems 'stuck' so the fans will not work. Any ideas on this gents?!
  11. Also with the new unit plugged in it flashes on and off twenty seven times. Any idea gents?
  12. Oh what a nightmare. I purchased a second hand unit. I followed seatkids advice and removed the old unit, then tested the fuse and it blew!! Any other ideas gents.?
  13. Thanks for the updates. I will be attempting to fix the problem tomorrow. I get back to you then.
  14. Could anyone out there please help me. I have a 1.9tdi 130 bhp diesel galaxy 2005. It has the digital climate control unit that is suspected to be broken. No blow heaters will work nor any air so pumped out of the air inlets. The fuse keeps blowing when it is replaced. The garage says this is probably the climate control unit, apparently a common problem. A new unit costs over five hundred pounds! I have sourced a second hand one for eighty pounds. The question is are they easy to fit? Could anyone Advise me how to take the old one out and fit the new one? Yours hopefully
