  1. I re-took them apart today and had a good mess around with them, either the motor has gone (works but judders a lot) or whatever logic is on the board isn't working right. I've patched things up now and got the headlights in an "ok" position, but no need to go out so hopefully won't matter. I did try lubrication but doesn't seem to have made much of a difference. Managed to find 2 on eBay for
  2. Today with guidance from this forum I attempted to sort my non-working headlight motors. Neither of them work so had a fun challenge removing both headlights. They both appear to work, the motors do spin, but one is juddery in one direction but fine the other way and the second appears to work ok, but can't get either to actually move the headlight! I did manage to get them to spin but I found that they just span the bar all the way out and ended up locking up (as it became that tight). I also (really stupidly) moved the allen screw adjusters so my headlights are quite badly out - I will get this sorted by taking it to a garage, NOT relying on my own levelling! My question is, does anyone know where to get the motors from (I'm quite happy to replace just the motor assembly on the board), but failing that I will replace both units - but where can I get two new or good quality used units? Or is there any advice you could offer to get these working? Cheers.
  3. Ah, so if that comes on that means an engine problem? The manual shows an engine management light position on the cluster, should I disregard it?
  4. I bought a 53 reg 1.9TDI Ghia Galaxy (MK2) September last year. I suspect the engine management light may have been removed. Does it show when you turn the ignition on then go off? Mine doesn't show at all.
  5. I've read that power has to come from the radio itself, after removing it I've discovered that it was an after-fit (dated 2008), the unit being a CD 6000(ne) - there is a multi-changer under the passenger seat and two four connectors on the rear, one for power (presumibly), one for the speakers then one in the middle of these two with just one purple wire in. This being fitted after the DVD does this mean it'll be missing the wiring that would be required? I can't get any power to any of the system - the ignition still shows less than 1v.
  6. Hi all, New to the forum, got my Mk2 Galaxy Ghia yesterday (53 reg), it has the headrest monitors and had just the button/headphone output section fitted when I got it but got lucky today to discover the actual MB8000 unit hidden under the driver's seat (not to mention the 6 CD changer I discovered under the passenger seat!). The MB8000 unit doesn't fire up - nothing appears to work but I've been investigating the wiring. It appears the earth and +12v work but the ignition 12v is showing under 1v - something not right there. I bridged the 12v to the ignition 12v, the monitor backlights came on but again nothing worked. I suspect the MB8000 is dead anyway but I'm curious about the ignition - it doesn't have sufficient voltage beyond the distribution unit. Should this be the case? My next step was to pull the stereo out, find the ignition 12v from that and temporarily wire it to the power input on the distribution unit. Failing that the entire thing is useless but I'm not for giving up then! I'll tackle that with a further post depending whether the system works with the bridged ignition 12v from the radio. Anyone else have this issue ... or been able to fit an alternative DVD unit? Many thanks.
