eventually took the car to the main dealer, expecting charges of £££££'s. They fixed it in a day- changed the Starter Motor Relay Assembly. Costs with labour was £140. Not cheap but not too expensive either. Thanks for all replies.

Got a problem with a 51 Reg 2.3 petrol/ manual. When stopping at junctions or stopping/ going slow the engine cuts out. The car will not restart immediately.... when turning the key , all dash lights come on, nothing happens and the starter motor will not turn over or fire up. After 3-4 minutes the car will start correctly. This problem has been getting worse over the past few days and I've had to take it off the road now. Has anyone suffered the same and what was the fix? Anyone got any ideas please? Thanks
