  1. with the 2.3 i4 engine with the crappy coil packs and replace with a mondeo (type) coil pack and leads , ive changed hundreds of these on these engines in various cars an engines, so going from the top of me head il walk you thro it (ish) rite take said crappy coil on plug packs take the live (+) wire and trace it back 2 where it splits 2 the other pack, put 2 aside, then with the negative (thus being the pulse wire) keep seprate from each other as these are remove the 2 pin plugs as these are now rubbish so now you can beat the grannie out of said coil pack with your biggest persuader,. from your scrappy you need the mondy coil pack and leads and also the 3 pin plug also, wouldnt worry about the gry black suppressor block,. now the + wire from and that goes 2 the middle wire, (2) on your mondy 3wire plug the neg wire for 1,4 coil pack to the 1st wire and the neg for 2,3 to the 3rd, so no with the zetec leads chops of the foot of the lead and trim the fins around sealing boot on the leads, notch up a braket 2 hold your coil pack and bobs ur aunt and fannies your welsh uncle, hope this helps and save you a fortune,ive spent loads on them crappy rip of expensive fings, and if by sum how you get your neg wires the coil works the other way so swap 1,4 for 2,3 ive even converted to using coil on packs from a motor bike but cant remember which bike now,
  2. i made me own plate and done away with the whole caboodle and just blankd the vacum pipe of, best fing ive ever done 2 a td, save all the aggro of cleaning the egr and the inlet manifold as i would have to do if it was a paying job and its better on fuel now, so well worth it!!!!!

  5. what is there that can be done, its a 98 mk1 19tdi, just sorted the power problem out thanks to this place, and do bmw 5 stud fit???, ta in advance peeps
  6. if its the 2.3 i4 engine id bin the coil on plugs and go 4 the zetec wasted spark set up, i have the rs2k engine in a triumph and the coil packs played up weekly, they do say them engines are to be driven lol, do a simply cranking test on the live side of the coil, but you will need sum 1 to turn the key as u work the digi meter
  7. hello from a warm sunny clacton on sea, i had about given up on my car, then consulted google and was pointed 2 the ecu map pipe, typical the only pipe i didnt do was inside, but dam im glad i found out, spent all last nite swoting up on verious problems my mk1 tdi, a very useful place hear, hope i wont out stay me welcome (hehehehe), on the bus front, ive spent allday repairing trapped and shortened out wires, that some 1fecked up trying 2 get the ecu out b4 and chewed up the bolts, and jammed alload of wires under the dash clocks, which then lead me on 2 y so many extra wires under the dash, gunna be after various interior parts and exterior parts and MORE POWER from the old bus :) anyway thanks for saving my bus and alload of aggro, no doubt il be buggen you for all sorts of vag confusion related issues ta gav

  9. after spending all night trying to work out what the power loss was caused by i tried these as a free fix first, guess what????? ive got the power!!!!!!!!!!!!!, thanks for sharing this mega helpful post, just replacen the rest of the vacum pipes now :), thanks from an essex newbie
