  1. I've been into Jennings who have told me they can't do anything with it without going ahead and taking the gearbox out. They've told me it does have a DMF. They say it is pointing towards a DMF/Clutch fault but there is no way of absolutely knowing unless they get into it. I am going to go elsewhere because they've said it will be a very expensive job to go through them. I'll ring around a few garages see what they think. Cheers.
  2. I fear it may be the flywheel, that's what they were hinting at when I took it into Jennings Ford this morning. If it is it is going to be an expensive job I think. It has a bloody Dual Mass Flywheel on it so it's gonna be a nightmare, especially since I was looking to Part Ex. on a new car in the next month or so! I'll let you know. Anybody had a dual mass flywheel replaced/repaired on their Galaxy? I'm wondering a usual price for the job that's all, I don't want to get ripped off! Cheers
  3. Hi Guys, Sorry for the late response but to update, it went into Ford and they replaced the fuel filter and all seemed fine. Thanks for the help. Gary
  4. Hi Everyone, Got my car going into Jennings Ford Teesside Tomorrow but I'm looking for a bit of advice, as I don't really want to get it in there if I don't have too. My Car is a 2001 Ford Galaxy LX TDI - 1.9l Diesel with 107,000 on the clock Basically I was driving my car and had noticed that when taking off from a stop in 1st gear, my car was shaking and struggling to set off, unless I put the revs quite high it stalls. It shakes a little bit in second when first accellerating but is okay and driving fine in higher gears. I had driven 35 miles up the road to Newcastle and about 2 miles from the City Centre my car stalled at some lights. When I started the car back up, it wouldn't go into gear, I literally couldn't push the gearstick into any gear position but neautral, it felt as if the gears were closed. Now the clutch felt fine, as it usually does, but it still would not go in gear. I turned the engine off and could put it in gear with the engine off. So I can start the car if I have the clutch down, in 1st gear then turn the ignition. Then I'm back to square one, with the shaking when setting off in 1st. I've also noticed on the way home that the battery light flashed a couple of times when I was driving doing about 40mph, no effect on the engine or anything, it just flashed up twice. (It hasn't done this today). Any ideas on what it could be? My Dad reckons it's the clutch, but if the clutch feels fine, could it be the gearbox? Or even something else... I'm hoping it's not something expensive (I've heard the clutch and gearbox can be an expensive job) as I was thinking of trading in and getting a new car very soon. Any help would be massively appreciated. Cheers, Gary
  5. Thanks for that, hopefully it is something cheap! I think my best option is to bite the bullet and get it into the local Ford Dealer, as the sooner I know what is wrong the the better, my uncle is a mechanic in a garage and once he knows what is wrong he will be able to fix. I will post an update when I hear from Ford!
  6. Hi, Sorry, I thought I'd added my car to my sig! I'm a little new to the forum ha. It's a 2003 Ford Galaxy LX TDI 1.9 I will give a few VW Garages a ring and ask around, before I get it into Ford for diagnostics check. I've checked for any fluids dropping but there has been no problems, When going up the hill first starting the car on a morning I have to really get the revs up high in first gear, or it just won't get up. But later in the day, even if I haven't used the car for a good few hours it usually seems fine. The main issue is the lack of accellerating power when I'm trying to join a motorway or putting my foot down a little bit. It is slow to get to 50-60-70mph, and shudders if I start to reach near 2000revs with my foot down, if I let up off the pedal and go up a gear I can accelerate however it is slow. Cheers for any help again guys! Gary
  7. Hi, I managed to solve by taking the stereo out, it turns out my Dad had the same issue before and got it unlocked, he'd written the code on the inside of the car where the stereo goes in! So problem solved, Thanks for the help though.
  8. Hi, When I start the car up cold on a morning, it has little power (I live on a hill and it sometimes struggles to get off the mark in 1st gear...) It is okay after a short while and throughout the rest of the day. It does however have a loss of power, compared to what it used to be like, it feels sluggish. When I'm, accelerating going up the gears when in second if you start to get towards higher revs with your foot down, the car shakes and shudders, so I change up the gears and it does the same, toward the higher revs I have to let off the pedal a little bit to stop the shaking. When I'm on the motorway I can get up to 70-80 or even higher provided I'm on even ground, or going downhill, but if I'm going uphill, it loses speed at 70 and will drop to around 60, sometimes meaning I have to switch down to 5th gear, to keep up to speed of around 50mph. Any ideas what this may be? There is no engine management light or any other light coming on for that matter, I'm going to get it booked into my loca Ford garage at some point this week but I was wondering if I'd find out if anyone else has had the same problem first. Cheers for any help you give me!! Kind Regards, Gary
  9. It's actually a 6000cd R D S EON If that helps any more. Any help would be much appreciated I seem to remember it being 1966 or 1965 or 1971 or something along those lines but they aren't correct... Cheers
  10. Hi, I have a 2003 Ford Galaxy LX TDI, with the standard stereo something like a 6006 Stereo CD Changer I think (I'm not near my car at the moment). I was wondering if there was any way to find the code? As I'm currently locked out of listening too it. (Not sure what caused it, It was working, then the next time I got in the car it said enter code...) Can anybody find out it for me or do you know any way I could get one? Thanks a lot! Gary
