Hi I'm new to this forum, but could really do with some help.. I have brought a 2001 galaxy 2.3 auto for the missus about 4 weeks ago. The person I brought the car from told me it had slight gearbox problem which happened after she had engine steamed cleaned, was told car was not selecting top gears and engine management light was on. So taking a chance, I brought it and when I connected it to the diagnostic reader it came up with the code P0768 - shift solenoid D - Electrical..... TBH was pleased it was an electrical problem at this point. Driving home after buying the car it seemed to be stuck in 3rd gear. Having looked at google I decided to clear the code and to give the car a gear box oil change first. This cleared the problem and the car started selecting all the gears. After doing about 300 miles, the problem reoccured Getting stuck in 3rd after warmed up. After speaking to a few parts departments asking for the shift solenoid D I am not getting anywhere as noone seems to know what it actually is? I have the car booked in the local fords in mid may for a free health check but would like to sort this myself as I know it will cost a fortune with them.. So does anyone know what could be causing this problem or had simular issues and could point me in the right direction as my missus is due our 3rd child in 3 weeks and is causing me a bit of grief about it all....
