thanks for reply dave. yes i can select all gears cleanly when stationary with the engine off. also i have tried stationary with engine running and nearly perfect as well. only thing is car got a new dmf clutch about year and a half ago, costing £700 odd !?? in saying that i dont use that mechanic any more as was unsatisfied. - any other thoughts on this???????? ps wish i had found this site a lot sooner as i had to find all the other usual galaxy traits myself i.e parking sensors, no internal heater (pollen filter blocked), door to pillar wires broke (soldering job), seals in turbo gone, maf sensor (second hand £10 job), oh and last week drive shaft failure!!

hello all, i have a 2002 mk2 galaxy 19tdi. i can hardly ever get fifth and sixth gears now, rarely i can but is very stiff when engaging. i have seen lots of threads for mk1 gear linkage problems but not for my mk2. am i just hoping for a cheap fix or is it the gear box??
