Hi all. Have been offered some alloys from a T25 vw, although apparently they're actually Mercedes wheels. Can anyone confirm whether they'll fit my sharan? If so could I use the bolts from my original vw alloys? Thanks for your help.

Have been searching to find out which wheels from other cars would fit my '99 Sharan. They all seem to conflict with each other. Can anyone direct me to a reliable list? Thanks all.

Hi. I'm wanting to change the very tatty alloys on my '99 sharan. I've seen a set of decent used vw ones on fleabay with 7.0j x 17 H2 marked on them. The tyres are 225 45 zr17. Can anyone advise as to whether they'll fit? If more info needed please advise what. Thanks a lot.

Yes I wondered that too. It's the vw petrol turbo.

Thanks Chromedome. The temp gauge has been dodgy since I got the car in July and didn't work most of the time while on hols in 80+ degrees France in Aug. I thought that the sensor was a common problem and therefore the 1st thing to rule out? Cheers.

IT WORKS!! Was fuse 28 - there wasn't one (mechanic must have removed yesterday). Seatkid I shall commission a statue to you to stand in Lewes town centre and lay flowers at it every day for the rest of my life! MANY thanks!

Am due to go on holiday with family this afternoon and wipers have stopped working ('99 Sharan) ! My mechanic came out yesterday eve to look at radio which wasn't working (was a fuse) and when I drove the car this morning no wipers. No sound from anything (have seen spindle threads here). Have replaced fuse no 8, still nothing. Saw thread re trying fuse 33 but mine only goes up to about 28 (horizontal row). Can anyone suggest anything? Mechanic coming out at 12 but am worried he won't be able to sort it. If anyone can talk me through what to do then I'd REALLY appreciate a post here or, even better, a call to 07548513130. Many thanks all. Was the fuse. As to why it blew I don't know but for now the kids are happily digging out their soulless pop cds and I'm thinking of industrial strength earplugs...

Sorry to show my ignorance but what's TIS?

I’m having problems installing a replacement stereo in my ’99 Sharan (I’ve seen similar posts but none solve my particular problem). I’ve removed original (broken) unit and am trying to install an aftermarket Kenwood. The unit works fine but loses all memory / settings when I switch off ignition. Having seen posts here I swapped the red / yellow wires over but that resulted in it not working at all (ignition on or off). Can anyone suggest any solutions as its driving me mad (and I’m taking it on family holiday on Wednesday and my kids will NOT appreciate journeying through France without “JLS” or whatever random pop they’re listening to this week.? Thanks a lot.

Hi all. This weekend I intend to attack the broken wires where they enter the boot to remedy the lack of central brake light. Assuming the wires have shorted out, does this mean that the bulbs will have blown (or anything else for that matter – relays?)? I’m just concerned that I won’t know whether I’ve fixed the problem if I solve the wiring but the light still don’t work! Hope you can help.

Hi all. Another couple of Sharan-based questions I'm afraid! On occasion when getting out of my '99 1.8t there's a high-pitched warning buzz which is different to the "lights on" warning. The keys are out of the ignition so it's not warning me about that. Any suggestions? Also, re the non-working rear centre brake light; I've seen the thread re accessing the cables in the C pillar but not about actually repairing them. I can see exposed wires where the sheath has split (never a good thing) - can the connector simply be replaced? Finally (honest!), the temp (rad) gauge is temperamental, sometimes reading normally, sometimes sitting on minimum. Is this a common fault and is there a cheap solution? Hope someone can help. PS just took the car for weekend camping with the family and it was brilliant! With just 1 rearmost seat removed it swallowed nearly as much stuff as my old Merc e-class and performed superbly. Very pleased with my purchase!

Thanks gregers and big Dave. There's no seat base angle adjustment and am sitting here with an aching leg after a meagre 1hrs driving today! Wondering whether I cd buy a used seat from galaxy or abracadabra with more adjustment?? Will look at faq re brake light. Not sure how to solve locking issue without giving Mr vw stacks of hard-earned...

Hi all. Following some great advice on this forum I've just bought a '99 Sharan 1.8t, 2 owners and 91k miles, all for £1000! Apologies for posting a non-galaxy question here but vw don't have equivalent site! Can I ask a couple of questions; My car drives really well, engine plenty of poke and great build quality inside. However I'm really struggling to find a comfortable driving position. Regardless of seat settings I'm constantly tensing because the under knee /leg support is very low and therefore there's nothing to rest leg on and my foot creeps down onto the (VERY sensitive) accelerator. Anyone else have this problem and can they offer a solution? Secondly, the car only came with 1 key and, while the remote flashes when pressed it doesn't lock /unlock. Any idea where to start in trying to resolve? Finally, the 3rd brake light doesn't operate at all. Can't imagine all bulbs have blown so would appreciate suggestions as to where to start. Thanks a lot for reading this - hope you can help!

Hi all. Having just found out my partners expecting our 4th sprog it's time to say goodbye to my 33 yr old Merc and be sensible. For my £1700 budget I'm thinking of a mk 2 galaxy as most reviews rate them in terms of reliability. However I have a question re the seating configuration. Research suggests that the centre middle seat is lap belt only. Is this correct? Given I'll only need 6 seats and never 7 can the centre middle be removed leaving me with effectively 6 seats ALL with 3 point belts? Hope someone can clarify. Ps any glaringly obvious faults with the DCi engines? Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi. Am considering a roughly 2002 galaxy purchase but have a question: Is it possible to have static front seats but 2 facing 2 in the 2nd and 3rd rows with a table in between? If so which model should I look for? Thanks
