  1. There is a switch to manually fold and unfold the mirrors which I've had a good fiddle with. I'll try asking Ford!
  2. I think you are right about the 1.6.
  3. It might just be the turbo. I had a Saab 9-5 diesel and the (very quiet) while from the turbo sounded just like a distant siren. I've not noticed any turbo noise from the Galaxy.
  4. I've had the cooling fan come on a couple of times in the recent very cold weather after the car has only been driven for about 5 minutes, and it keeps running for a couple of minutes after the engine switched off. Temperature reading and everything else seems OK, I suspect the fan thermostat.
  5. Bit late to reply to this one perhaps but my experience is that it's the storage bins, or the CDs in them, that rattle. You can't reach most of the bins from the front seats. The roof itself is OK. I've only had the car since October and the sun has not been out since :) so can't comment on the aircon. Several people have said that the tinted glass roof looks cool from the outside if that's important to you. What the roof is good for is birdwatching.
  6. I've had a new 1.6 TDCi Galaxy for about 4 months. I'm surprised and pleased with its performance. Accelerates better than I thought it would, happy cruising at high speed and does 41 MPG overall, much of which is local driving. It is frustrating though when trying to reverse slowly, especially up a slight slope, I can't do it smoothly. If I don't touch the accelerator, the car shudders. If I bring the revs up to 1000 rpm, no shudder, but the engine will not maintain a steady speed, not matter how carefully I bring up the clutch. It's almost as if as soon as the car starts to move, the engine electronics sense a slight change in engine speed and applies more power and we get a jerk. Frustrating. Anyone else experienced this? Discussed with the dealer who politely suggested that its the way I drive! There is also a very slight hesitancy from the engine around 1800 rpm in 3rd of 4th gear at constant speed. Yes I'm a perfectionist! Anyone else seen this problem?
  7. Does anyone know if it's possible to stop the Electric Mirrors on a Mark 3 Galaxy fold each time you lock the car? Most of the time they don't need to be folded and it seems a pity to wear out the mechanism unnecessarily!
