Abs Light Resetting
allbluedave replied to allbluedave's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
cheers paul. by reset do you mean that the abs light goes off above 20mph so the light dont have to be turned off by the diagnostic socket? the cars just had a new gearbox in it and the rings around the drive shafts seamed fine. -

Mk1 Galaxy Gear Problems
allbluedave replied to allbluedave's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
hey guys. :) ok so ive started prepping the car to take the gear box out......... removing battery/plastics.turbo pipes ectect and my next job was to remove the drive shafts.bearing in mind i dont have to drop the gearbox oil as i did that all over the road about 2weeks ago lol.so i followed the haynes to remove the drives shafts and what a p%%% on ive had.managed to get the wheel end out after alot of hammering but the inner shaft at the gear box end wont budge. any ideas guys? if i dont sort this soon i,ll have to sell as a spares or repair which i dont wanna do as its a great car.well was  haynes says to gently prise it out which ive tryed to do and it still wont move. could the selector thats fell in the box mashed sumit up to jam the shaft from coming out? -
ive got a mk1 galaxy 1.9tdi............the gearbox went bang recently but at the same time the aircon pipe ruptured{ the metal one that goes into a chunky rubber flexy pipe. excuse my lack of knowledge if theres more than one of that type but could the gearbox caused the pipe to bust or a duff compressor? never thought about it till now.

allbluedave replied to allbluedave's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
well i went to drain the oil today and when i removed the drain plug no oil come out  looked further under the gearbox and theres a hole in it smaller than the end of a biro pen so guess thats why they aint no oil in the gearbox lol. ive been looking on the car to try and find the vin plate so i can look up the info to source a replacement gearbox but cant find the vin number anywhere. any ideas guys? B) read somewhere theres different codes so gota get the right one or it wont fit. i take it only a 1.9 tdi one is suitable? same type. -

Mk1 Galaxy Gear Problems
allbluedave replied to allbluedave's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
cheers paul. so draining the oil to see if there is any metal in it wont work then? also is the gear selector that goes though the top of the gearbox through the bellhousing where the flywheel is or through where all the gears are?  -
Mk1 Galaxy Gear Problems
allbluedave replied to allbluedave's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
hey paul. thanks for the reply. :) from what you,ve said and what happened it looks like the bolt has dropped into the gearbox so i recon the gears are now knackard due to the two huge bangs. been looking on the mentioned auction site and found a few. just need to make sure i get the right one. as for the burst pipe. heres me thinking it was power steering but on closer inspection today i found out the oil had come from the air conditioning compressor.how its poped the metal pipe because of the gear box i dont know. im planning on draining the gearbox oil and see if its full of cog teeth and a severed bolt. :o -
hi guys. firstly my apologies for not been on here in a while.but saying that my car was trouble free till yesterday :angry2:. so i took a short journey from home yesterday and stopped at a set of traffic lights. took the car out of gear and had my foot on the brake. lights changed to red a put the car in gear and let the clutch out. nothing.......... thought the hand brake was on......... wasnt. thought the clutch had gone........... clutch was fine. so i had to push the car to a safe place........ when i checked the car there was no resistance in the gear change.......... i arranged for a family member to tow me home so i started the car and started to get the car towed home when there was huge bang! sounded like a shot gun :o so i honked the horn and stopped to investigate the bang as the car veered to one side....{ gearbox side } i checked the underside of the car and there was a slight drip of oil from the centre of the engine. thinking this aint good but decided to carry on been towed home. as the rope got taught a heard another bang....... even louder this time. i shut the car off this time to check and the car was pissing out red oil which i thought at the time was gearbox oil.........the car was stuck in the middle of the road pretty much as we were passing a parked car at the time and when i tryed to move the car on the kerb the car wouldnt move......... like it was stuck in gear and pressing the clutch didnt work. eventualy after 20 mins or so i managed to move the car on the kerb. i managed to get the car recovered home and upon removing the belly pan the following day i didnt see what i was expecting....... a hole in the gear box?...... the oil had come from a burst power steering pipe under the engine! :o expecting the gear linkage cables to be broke......... a problem i had with a citroen synergie recently....... sounded like the same fault. the cable where in fully working order and not snapped. im hoping that its something simple and not the gearbox knacked. any ideas guys? need the car back on the road asap.is here anything on top on the gear box the can wear out that the cables are connected to? cheers guys. bottom line is...... if your gearlinkage goes. press your clutch in if your getting toed. dont do what i did. from what i can gather the car as put itself in first gear while been toed at 25 mph. or so it seams anyway. cheers for reading guys and i hope someone can help. :)

How To Remove And Swap 2001 Tailgate
allbluedave replied to nexsuperne's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
on a mk1 galaxy you have a harness of wires on the drivers side inside a rubber gaiter. the passenger side there is another rubber gaiter with the washer pipe inside and as for the hinge bolts they are hidden under the roof lining which involves undoing two plastic grommets that hold the roof lining up at the tail gate exit and removing the rubber tail gate seal from the boot.the gas struts that hold the boot up need to disconnected also when the boots ready to be removed.id imagine they aint much difference between the mk1 and a 2001 model. -

Aftermarket Central Locking
allbluedave replied to allbluedave's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
hiya. i used this link on here to install mine :) .the wiring you need to tap into on the car is grey {lock} and green & red {unlock} the ford galaxy has a positive triggered system so the wiring for the above locking kit is as follows. orange {dont connect} i cut the wire short and taped it up.white is the lock wire which is connected the the grey wire in the cars fuse box loom.yellow is 12v permo live. orange and black{don't connect}again cut short and taped up.white and black is the unlock wire which is connected to the green and red unlock wire in the fuse box.see piccys in link for location :)yellow and black is 12v permo live.the yellow wire and yellow/blackwire and the 12v live to the locking unit was spliced together. soldered and taped up and connected to the thick red wire in the fuse box.{ see pictures in link for wire location.the earth wire was connected to the earthing point as shown in the piccys.the good thing about this kit is that the control box is so small it fits in the plastic frame the fuse box is made of and held in place by a sticky pad that comes with the kit. gud luck with the install and let us now how you get on http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?/topic/25311-universal-remote-central-locking-kit-mk1-1998/ -
ive checked the wiring in the rubber gaitors. non appear to be broke but i cant undo the wiring from the door jamb on two of the doors which makes me think maybe water has got to the connectors and corroded the connectors making the voltage work when it feels like it.the central locking is currently working at the minute............ wired in a universal remote locking unit today so got remote locking. just a little concerned that if the power goes to the door again the remote locking will pack up too. yes it has the lcd display with the buttons and the fan don't get power to it so it wont work.ive also bought a cable to delete logged faults with my laptop but i havent plugged it in yet to do it. might work if i get the display to stop flashing when the ignition is turned on?

hi guys :) after months of having broken central locking on my v reg galaxy i finaly fixed it by adding one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270869869825?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D270869869825%26_rdc%3D1 very simply to fit. took forty minutes to do including putting the dash back together.works brilliantly and easy to wire in due to not having to add relays to lock/unlock wires. well worth considering if your central locking was knackard like mine was lol ;)
-
cheers for the piccy seatkid. :) it looks like the same amount of fuses are missing in yours too.im guessing that everything works on your car as it should? reason i asked about the fuses is because the car had a few faults with it when i bought it and thought fuses had been removed.the central locking was totally dead...........fob didn't work and still don't now.the power to the drivers door for the locking was dead but everything else in the door works. windows/mirrors.the heater has never worked on any of the heater settings and the display flashed on turning the ignition on.a fault from what ive read online. ive tryed the fuses.tested the motor. changed the hedgehog{resistor pack} and it still aint working. ran out of ideas. been searching online and on here but still aint come up with a solution yet.

Fault On Brake Lights
allbluedave replied to eddie the lad's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
had this on mine. nearly all the wires in the tail gate rubber boot drivers side where broken. had intermitent number plate lights. rear wiper wouldnt park properly or didnt work at all. no reversing lights. lift the rubber gaiter up and check the wires. your fault will be in there.spent a good couple of hours cutting out the old broken wire and soldering in new wire with heat shrink over the joins. -
Vagcom Where To Connect...
allbluedave replied to Firebirdapache's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
i found mine in the centre console under the ashtray by accident lol. the ashtray lifts out leaving the part it sits in. a small screwdriver to lightly press the clip in and in pops out revealing the connector :) -
Door Lock Repairs?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-GALAXY-DOOR-LOCK-CYLINDER-REPAIR-KIT-FRONT-RIGHT-LEFT-/400352917196?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AFord%7CModel%3AGalaxy&hash=item5d36e4b6cc hey andy. :) the above link is what i bought to repair my locks on my mk1 galaxy.you need to take the handle out to check the length and width of the paddle though on the handle as they changed the length and width over the years.as said above the handle is easy to remove and the parts are easy to fit. it tells you how to fit in the haynes if you get stuck. let us know how you get on. :) -
hi guys. :) ive got a mk1 1.9 tdi galaxy with a few fuses missing out the fuse box. i was just wondering if these are suppose to be missing or have they been removed to hide faults on the car.current faults on the car is no heater and intermittent central locking.cheers guys :)
