  1. Hi I have just finished reading your posts. Very informative, I wish more people would spend the time, you have, to share these type of stories with others. Its nice to show up the "experts" for what SOME of them really are, stupid at best, money grabbing liars at worst. The thread you listed for the 5 speed gearbox is just great, however I own a 2.3 petrol MK2 and Ford in their devine wisdom decided that 4 speeds would do in these cars. Its still a Jatco, electrically controlled etc etc, but of course different, an AG4, although Jatco actually list it as the same a Jatco506E. Did you in your travels on the net find any simular threads, but for the 4 speed box? Any information would be really appreciated. I really hope others reading your post, will be spurred on, to check things out, before shelling out. Well done. Eddie
  2. Hello again. It seems i have to replace my automatic gearbox, on my 2.3 petrol Y Reg MK2 Galaxy. Does anyone know if a replacement from a Mondeo will fit? or one from a galaxy diesel? They all are listed as being the same namely a Jatco. JF506E. The same gearbox/part number also seems to go in Land Rover, Rover, Jaguar, and of course VW's. When I call breakers, they quote reasonable prices for Mondeo parts, but as soon as I say Galaxy, they seem to take a deep breath, rub their hands together, and double or treble the prices. Any help here will be greatly appreciated. Eddie
  3. Hello all, I am a new member, and have a problem with my 2001 2.3 petrol Galaxy. Well I checked the gearbox for codes and got 01192 mechanical fault. Which says torque converter clutch fault, which I assume is the lock up clutch. I was going to drop out the entire box, and replace with a used good one, but wonder if there is a better fix, an easier, and cheaper one I can do. The car runs OK when stone cold, but wants to keep driving, i.e. like the brakes are not so good, have to press harder than should do. (brakes fine) then when it gets hot, it loses its drive, does not want to move at all. I think this is fitted with a Jatco JF506E box, and I wonder really what tests I might be able to do myself? So as to actually find the fault. There are 3, I have in mind. 1. the torque itself. 2. the n92 solenoid, 3, the valve sleeve/valve body next to the manual valve, being worn. At the moment I have a lot of time, and not so much money, so any help would be very much appreciated. Eddie
