Hi Will... Would you happen to know the ford code for the gasket/seal on that model of heater? (D5W-F) I'll try the eberspacher specialist as well just incase as I can't see them needing the bloomin serial number for that... (I Hope!) Rob

Hi Gregers... Unfortunetly mine went out of warranty in Sept... <_< Bugger.. But like you mentioned about a goodwill gesture I spoke to the spares dept at the dealer where I got the alhambra from and they did suggest speaking to the service bod when he returns from jury service! lol... Also annoyingly the last service it had (just before warranty ended) was my usual garage of choice rather than Seat due to cost/distance I had no leave off work left to drop it off/pick it up.. BAH!! So I will speak to them anyway.. but I think I'll plod on see if I can get it started in the mean time... You don't happen to know if they just used plain ol copper pipe do you? I'm thinking if they did then I've got plenty at home (renovations.. gotta love it!) would just need some jubilee clips.. Thanks Rob

Well bit of an update and a shout for HELP! (please don't make me beg!!! ) PF Jones (who Eberspacher put me onto) were very helpful and informative.. Unfortunetly the Eberspacher test tool (which bypasses the car ECU and goes straight to the problem) wouldn't connect as VAG/Ford (?) had used a connector they didn't have an adaptor for :( They did suggest if I can get the heater off the car again and supply the serial number they can order the glow pin without a problem. Quick question.. When I said "if i remove it i'd need to link the coolant" they suggested a temporary bridge using copper 22mm pipe? Would it be suitable and would it hold for a day or 2 (if i want them to diagnose the heater they can do it on a test rig but it needs to be off the car.. obviously  ) Unless anyone knows the exact glow pin number for the newer heaters? Thanks Rob

Recently I noticed my Aux Heater wasn't firing up on these cold mornings.. Didn't think much of it (until I froze one morning) borrowed a vag-com cable and deduced that it was reporting flame out.. Ok fine quick search brings "Glowplug faulty" fine easy peasy.. Bought the "enhanced" part from my local ford dealer and then it waited for a non-busy weekend.. That weekend was yesterday.. After following Ivors run through managed to get the unit off the car... THEN i hit problems... Firstly in Ivors walk through he shows 1 side of the "top" lid coming off relatively easily, then the back panel coming off to allow access to the glow plug... Hmm my lid won't come off.. It was stuck down by the other side.. oh well.. Took the back plate off.... ERK! wheres the bloody multiplug and glowplug?!?!?!?!?! Lots of head scratching... Umming arring, some choice words.. Back to the net with the model number in hand.. Eberspacher D5W-F.. Google finds a hit at SGA (?) a german gal forum that basically says that they changed to this new heater in Oct 04 (Erm.. But my car was registered in Sept 04!!!) and it's nothing at all like Ivors pictures.. On the new one you DO have to remove the water pipes (nightmare moment!) you DO need new seals (they break as soon as you move the unit :D ) Anyway.. Located what looked like the glowplug to only sit there and well swear after realising it ain't the same! :( So after much more swearing (and stressing with the water pipes!) put it all back together and gave up for 1 frozen night.... Ran vag-com again this morning and got these: 01414 Combustion Air Blower 16-00 Signal Outside Specification 01409 - Shareware 35-00 Shareware.. (But a quick google shows this to be flame out?) I have a horrible feeling I CAUSED the 01414 error last night probably in the reassemble... I'm hoping it's just perhaps a peice of something caught in it or perhaps a bit of coolant on the wires? Can anyone at all advise.. I've tried Eberspacher and they put me on to a local diesel specialist (PF Jones) and they seem to think it's a GlowPIN not a glowplug in this unit?!?! (and it's another 45quid!!!!) Any help would be SERIOUSLY appreciated as I'm NOT letting this one get me! Thanks Rob and his cold 54 Plated Seat Alhambra..

mutter mutter mutter stupid plastic cover!!!! Dynamite ain't enough to remove that thing!.. From experience I had an a very nice AA man rapidly turn into a foaming at the mouth rabid monkey trying to get that f'in thing off!! From his experience brute force and then insert offending item in the nearest bin!!! (As if its like the one on my alhambra the graphics on it are in the wrong place anyway!!! I need to lie down now after remembering that incident!... Rob

Pioneer 5800 Thats the one I went for.. Even has a remote control.. (just got to hide it from the kids!! :( ) STILL haven't sussed how the missus put it into bloody rainbos colour change mode.. But I WILL read the manual tomorrow! LOL!!! Like I said tho the only gripe is how proud it stands from the centre console.. But I think I'm getting used to it.. So far so good.. And was bloody joyous just dumping a couple of mp3 folders to a cd!! not having to wait for nero or whatever to convert them back to audio tracks! :( Happy Bunny with lots of music again now! Rob -

Well I couldn't resist temptation!!! Went for the Pioneer.. Was going to go back the shop I saw it at first but thought no lets have a drive and look.. 1st place i went to matched the web pricing I'd found! Saved 40quid BONUS!! And the difference in quality?!?! OMG.. Ok I've changed ford heads for sony's in the past and been slightly impressed.. but this pioneer on the bammers OE speakers.. Bliss! Do I have any gripes?? Fraid so ;) Unlike the OE the headunit is no longer flush with the main console (ok ok it's aethetic (or however you spell it!)) not a big thing.. and I'm sure I'll get used to it unless I can think of a way to sink it a little I'm going to look tomorrow). And I didn't buy the damn amplified aerial adaptor!.. Chap in the shop was sure it didn't need it.. It does! :) Picks up a good number of stations, but misses out some not so far away ones which is a little annoying! So far I'd recommend the Pioneer to anyone (I'll let you know how easy it is with the iPod connection when I sort that out next!) ** Word of warning!!!! ** DO NOT LET THE MISSUS PLAY WITH THE ILLUMINATION CONTROL! The bloody thing is now going thru it's entire range of colors all the bloody time! ;) When I can find a quiet moment to hide somewhere (and try not to knock the ol' male pride I'll read the manual properly and fix it! :) ) Rob... -

Yup them are the two.. (and a little cheaper too.. can I wait for it to be posted???? argh!!!) :o Going to do some ringing round now.. Any opinions on either of them? Only comment they made in the shop was the Alpine was faster accessing the iPod..Now tbh as long as it plays em I'm not that bothered! I don't know why but I'm wondering why they didn't seem to be pushing the Kenwoods even tho they're listed here as on offer and to my untrained eye I they seemed just as good.. The only thing I want (if i'm after toys!) would be a remote of some shape or form (I don't have the steering wheel controls  ) -

Thanks for the welcome (I'll take off the flame proof suit now  ) In reply (no particular order) It does.. But apprently only if you buy a Seat changer unit.. No one (Autoleads or CD2?) seem to do an adaptor specifically for the Liceo (Which i find bizarre!) This is the option I'm looking at now.. Just been in to have a butchers at whats around.. They suggested an Alpine 9847, a Pioneer 5800 and there were 2 Kenwoods but they didn't have any of the iPod connection packs for the kenwoods in stock :o What I have since found out is that apart from the aerial amplifier connection I don't need any other adaptors as it's already an ISO connection (like current Audi's they said) Can anyone confirm that? Anyway thanks for the help so far! Rob -
First off ** Newbie (to the board) Warning!! ** I've been reading this forum with interest (since I found it!) and now I'm stuck so I'm afraid I need your help! (please!!!) As the topic says I've got a 54 Alhambra 130 SE TDi which came fitted with a Seat LICEO h/u.. Now apart from the manual which came with it I can't seem to find any information ANYWHERE! even google turns a damn blank  What I would like to do is either add a cd-changer (and not pay Seat prices!) or add a connection for my late xmas/early birthday pressie iPod. I've asked my local dealer who recommended trying a local Car Audio as (I quote) "We charge too much for them!" :o So I tried Car Audio Centre, nice poeple.. told them the car and the headunit and the answer was (very honest mind!) "Never heard of it sorry" at which point he suggested a couple of aftermarket Kenwoods or Alpines. Now if I go the aftermarket route, will i lose anything from the current stock setup? (of the top of my head) could I turn the h/u on without the key and would it still auto-powerdown or is that a stock feature only? Really sorry if I'm being too vague (I should really know by now never to research and post on forums past 1am!) but any enlightenment you can send my way i would really appreciate as I can't believe NO-ONE outside of seat has heard of my h/u?!?! Many Thanks Rob
