Air Con Pipe Leaking
thumpermike1 replied to thumpermike1's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Well ive got the pipe via ebay from Germany. Looks like the correct thing. Going to have a go at fitting it myself. As i have no air can i assume the system is empty of gas so no problem with disconnecting the damaged pipe? Also id there any special lubricat you should use on the seals that are on the new pipe or do you just attach it on? Any advice would be appreciated. -

Towing Loss Of Power
thumpermike1 replied to thumpermike1's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi, Wanted to post an update on this. I decided to send the car to a diesel specialist and he diagnosed the N75 solenoid, apparently they are a common failure at 80k miles. I had this replaced and had a cleaning treatment done on the turbo. I have towed the caravan a number of times since and not one bit of trouble. Also, buy the N75 solenoid from VW, half the price of Ford!!! A tip though, if you needcto replace the N75 valve get it from VW, half the price of ford!!! -

Limp Mode - Auto Gearbox Fault Code?
thumpermike1 replied to thumpermike1's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi, Spoke to my local ford dealership parts department today and have been told he could not find any temp sensor connected to the auto gear box. I'm a bit stumped now, anyone got any idea what the problem could be? -
Hi All, This post follows on from a post regarding a post i last year about my Galaxy going into limp mode when towing our caravan whilst going up hill. Well when i first used vcds i got a fault code regarding boost pressure deviation. I have now used Innotec to clean the turbo, what a pleasure that was!! I cleared the code when i first read the system, and on re-scanning it tonight it has not returned!! However on advice from someone on here i scanned the autobox for fault codes and came up with two. 00300 - Transmission fluid temp. Sensor (G93) 27-10 - Implausible signal - intermittent 00526 - Shareware version. To decode all DTCs 28-10 - please register/activate - Intermittent Firstly what do these point to, and secondly could they cause the limp mode issue? Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All, I have the innotec turbo cleaner now and I'm planning to use it on Saturday. One part of the cleaning kit needs to be added to the fuel filter, firslty can i do the through the larger connection of the three on the filter? Secondly i was planning on adding it to the old filter and then change this on a service due next month, any reasons not to do this? Any advice appreciated. -

Hi All, Beleive it or not i have not had chance to get under the car for various reasons, or excuses, but we have just bought a new caravan and i need to get this sorted now, as ordered by the wife!! Can i ask that if i find the VNT actuator does not move freeley, what's the best fix? I have seen some good reveiws on here for innotec turbo cleaner, would that work? I have not has a single issue with the car since i started this post, apart from when i towed the caravan for a short distance in October! But having cleared the code before this trip it is now back again. -

Hi, Followed the above instructions and vag-com has given me the following, 17964 - charge pressure control:negative deviation P1556 - 35-10 --- intermittent Does this confirm the advice given earlier? Just want to see if this info helps before I get under the car!! Thanks for the advice chrispb123456!!! -
Towing Loss Of Power
thumpermike1 replied to thumpermike1's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi, I have already bought the vagcom cable and CD, however after running the scan it asked for the software to be registered with Ross tech at a cost, which I wasn't happy with as this was not mentioned when I bought the cable. So I got the system read when I got the galaxy mot'd. Should I have paid the registration cost? It seemed a bit expensive. Chrispb123456, can the actuator be diagnosed as stuck as suggested by others by using a spanner and moving it & will moving it by spanner remedy it? If the actuator is moving freely would the solenoid valve be a good place to move to next and to be replaced? All of you hep is appreciated. -
Towing Loss Of Power
thumpermike1 replied to thumpermike1's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
This only happens when going up hill, the rpm's are high and remain high, but the speed reduces. There is a part on the galaxy called a boost control solenoid/valve, is this the VNT?. The description from the Bosch system seemed to point to this. But I'm not 100% sure. Is the VNT on the turbo? -

Hi, Had the fault code read on a Bosch system and the code that came up was "Boost limit control valve under limit" Can anyone point me in the direction as to what is wrong? It pulls really well, no smoke and the limp mode only happens when I'm towing. Since the last 'limp mode' event nearly two weeks ago the galaxy hasn't given any problems. Mike -

Ok, Just ordered a code reader. Is the vane actuator a simple fix? And can it be intermittent? -
Hi All, I'm hoping for a bit of help!! I own a 2004 115bhp Auto. I'm experiencing a loss of power when towing, either with our trailer or our caravan. This problem doesn't always happen!!! When going up a gradient the Galaxy will pull well then all of a sudden it will loose pulling power. The revs will remain but the speed will drop gradually, it just loses pulling power. If I pull over and turn the engine of and restart the Galaxy it is fine and runs and pulls really well. Any ideas what could be causing this? Any help is appreciated. Mike

Electrical Box
thumpermike1 replied to thumpermike1's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Daddyfixt, Thanks for that. Ive got a new box, so i'll take the leads of again and give them a good clean. Cheers -
Hi, There is a fuse/electrical box uner the cover that hides the battery. I recently had a breakdown and it was discovered that this was the issue, basically it had burnt out. I have replaced the box, but can anyone tell me what the first two wires coming away from this box supply? The second of these is already showing signs of getting hot and i'd like to to know what it supplies? I have a 2004 115bhp TDI. Any help is appreciated.

Service Light Reset
thumpermike1 replied to thumpermike1's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
acecard, This worked, just the job. Thanks for your help. Mike -
Hi All, I know this subject will have been covered before, but i can not open the relevant FAQ section, i think it's because of not having placed enough posts. I have a 2004 TDI and was wondering if it is possible to reset the service light indicator without having to attach the car to a computer? Any help is appreciated.

Windscreen Wipers
thumpermike1 replied to thumpermike1's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks Scorpiorefugee, i will take a look at that. -
Hi, When i first turn my ignition on my wipers move slightly up and down, not a full screen wipe, i'd say about an inch. They do this two or three time then stop. Does anyone know why, and if this is sign of an issue? Cheers Mike
