Unfortunately, you cannot cut toe holes on the old part... Good news is you only need the top (black) of the console. Have no idea of price or finis, just keep in mind that this ia available in Seat and VW dealers also. For what it's worth, I remember paying €24 for one of the switches , this was last year !

Fuel Filter Replacement
strouf replied to Seatdriver's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hello again, sorry for the late reply! Hope you have sorted this out . The online filter catalog :http://www.mann-hummel.com/mf_prodkata_eur/index.html?ktlg_page=1&ktlg_lang=1 Even without a water drain, diesel will not mix with water .Provided that you change fuel filter regularly you will be ok. The design of the filter and its piping is such , that water (beeing heavier than diesel) sits on the bottom of the catridge, while diesel is sucked into the pump from the top. But a larger filter with water drain can be in service for longer period . -
Fuel Filter Replacement
strouf replied to Seatdriver's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
There's more than one kind of fuel filter that fits the car, bigger or smaller, with or without water trap, depending on the climate conditions, use etc. You could go to a car filter (or auto parts) dealer and buy one which has the same shape and threading, but it's slightly bigger and has a water drain.. I would recommend the German "Mann Filter". Consult their catalog ..IIRC it's the WK842 type... -
Α really clever mod ! I was thinking of putting something like those bus handles, on the headrest bases. Your idea is much much better !! I think you should turn those Scorpio handles around, so that they face backwards. They might brake, as they are not designed to get pulled from that angle.

I got them off a friend's Alhambra, when he decided to go for some "boy racer" looking ones... The connections are identical. will plug and play (moving and heating). The wiring for the el.folding was not present on my car, and adding the extra wires is too much for me. Then the wife said "I think I like the old ones better"...Who am I to argue with this ?

I'm selling a pair of Alhambra wing mirrors, together with their control switch. Color coded in S3 (silver), mint condition! Ebay link :

Radio Reception
strouf replied to Ogben Schmutzel's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Hello again! Thank you for your reply. You're probably right. Some time ago, I was playing with the radio settings. AF,PTY, all those mysterious things. Not sure of what I did, but my problem was solved. Now I can listen to my favorite Nana Mouskouri song without annoying TA and news... I still think a Pioneer HU that plays mp3 is money well spent, so I'm soon going to buy one. Having bought the car for almost two years now, I have overcome the "new car-do not touch" syndrome. The ford radio is going to the bin! -
Thank you for your help Gregers, Nikpv. Seatkid, regardless of the regulations in the UK (living in Greece), my intention is to retrofit a HID system using the factory parts. I'm sure you know that the part that makes the difference between factory fitted and aftermarket HIDs is the (self leveling, specially designed) headlight. This is why I'm willing to spend more, so that I can fit a system that really works (correct beam pattern), not just looking cool! And, letting no Fraud electrician mess with my car, is the only way to do it. Anyway, thank you for pointing this out .

Hi all . I'm trying to get a pair of HID headlights for my gal, which is left hand drive. I was told that the part numbers in question are 1203001 and 1203151 . Can anybody (having microcat maybe) verify this ?

Hi mum ! Apologize for my "misbehaving"... My post here ment to show the difficulty of the the project (swapping the mirrors).
-
I only read a few of the questions there, I think most people were more sarcastic than serious...
-
Hi ! I 've tried to use the Alhambra mirrors because of the el. folding feature. Then I found out that the wiring is not there (not surprised ) and gave up the idea. I still have the two mirrors (in Galaxy's machine gray color) and the Seat control switch for sale, should you be interested !
-
Could you be more specific please ? Why don't they fit? Any fotos ?
-
I would really be surprised if they said they could do it !!! Whenever i HAVE to go to them (car still covered by warranty) , they act like it's not the car they sold me, but a CATERPILLAR bulldozer ! Always ifs and buts

Hello again ! I'm sorry it took so long to reply, haven't been on this forum for quite some time. Adding the roof mount seat belt is easy enough, provided that you have the parts needed ! You need the seat belt of course, and two metal guides that secure the belt in place under the headlining. Most probably the metal plate that the whole system is placed on, will be missing (my car did not have it). I can find the part numbers if necessary... So you need to take the headlining off, weld the supporting bracket in place (best on a body repair shop, a two minute job), bolt the parts in place. Then half reinstall the headlining, mark and cut a hole where the seat belt will be hanging (tricky), and there you go !!! Also note that if the middle extra seat does not come from a MK2, you will need to add a second "thing"(the part that the belt locks in) to it's right, which is DIFFERENT than all the others. I hope my description will not disappoint you , the job is not difficult , but you need to buy the parts (I always ask SEAT dealers, they are more helpful) and have the time.
