And Its Goodbye From Him
dragon32 replied to dragon32's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi Guys, It wasn't my intention to dis this forum at all as I have had lots of help from the likes of Seatkid. What I meant was that, if Fraud didn't know then who did. As it strands even Ford have tried to help and a phone call from them this morning told me that on early MK1's there isn't a fuse for the airbag, and its just wired straight to the airbag controller. That strikes me as a bit dangerous when you think of whats on the other end. Anyway the car is for sale now and I can't afford to fix it if its a controller and clockspring. So, I realy do mean it when I say thanks to all you guys. Don -
Hi Guys, I just dropped in quickly to say goodbye. The problems I have had with my Galaxy have now become insurmountable. No one seems to know anything about the airbag system and the location of the supply fuse so now the car is on e-bay if anyone is interested. I even tried Ford to solve this problem and even they dont know where the fuse is or even if it has one. I also wanted to thank everyone who tried to help and indeed did help with other problems I had. As for Fraud, they can kiss my **** and I will never buy another one after being a life long Ford customer. Thanks to everyone, Don

Hi Guys, Can someone tell me why I can't get VCDS to connect to my airbag monitor and were id the fuse for the monitor. Is there anyone near Banbury with a working copy of VCDS that would be willing to try and clear the airbag light for me please Thanks, Don

Airbag Help Please Mk1 Galaxy 2.8 Ghia
dragon32 replied to dragon32's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi Silverbeast, Vcdslite only sees two controllers. That of the ABS and instruments. It says it cannot conect to the airbag. What realy worries me is that when measuring the wiring to the clock spring it reads dead short. I dont see how if it was designed that way that it would activate the airbag as either power or earth would be missing. Don -
Airbag Help Please Mk1 Galaxy 2.8 Ghia
dragon32 replied to dragon32's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi again, Sorry about this but I have another question about my airbag problem and its this. Should the back of the clockspring be covered in grease? Mine is and I am wondering if it should be clean. Thanks, Don -
Hi All, I have a big problem. I recently put my ol'gal in for MOT and part of what it failed on was play on the top of the steering column. I bought a second hand Sharan one. When going to fit it, I noticed that the play wasn't in the top bearing but the nut on the steering adjustment had come loose. Tightend it became tight again and all was well. Now the however. After re-assembling the steering wheel I got the airbag light. I tried VCDSlite but it tells me it can,t communicate with the airbag controller. I took the clock spring back off the car and measured it with a multimeter and it reads short between the two pins. Is this normal and if so how the hell does it work and why put two wires when one would have done? can anyone tell me which fuse supplies the airbag controller please? I have tried ebay for a second hand one without success. Any or all help would be most gratefully received before I pull my hair out. Thanks, Don.

I can't speak for the Galaxy itself but I had to get a new barrel for my old Scorpio. My local Fords charged me £25 and changed the locking mechanism to suit my key, on the spot. This was about 5 years ago so I have no doubt that it may cost a bit more. It was an easy fix. Hope this helps, Don

Cos I own a V6 and anywhere other than local and I might as well buy it from fraud. When I asked why the switch was so expensive I was told that" it was at, the time, the flagship car of the Ford range" I couldn't stop laughing all the way back to the white elephant. Don
-
Thanks for that but the V6 switch is totally different. It clips in so doesnt need a spanner to fit it. If I had the 2.0 ltr version I could get one for under £20 locally. Its because its the 2.8 V6 engine with the none Ford gearbox. Don
-
BTW my local fraud want £60 for the switch. I haven't been able to find one on e-bay. Don
-
Somewhere on this forum is a posting from a guy who had the same problem(as do I) and he removed the switch and cut another piece of plastic to fit the end of the switch. He glued it on and it worked. That what I am going to try as soon as I work out how to get at the switch without doing it from underneath. Hope this helps, Don

Brake Problem Mk1 V6
dragon32 replied to dragon32's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks guys. I will take a look and let you know. Don -
Hi Guys, Have a slight problem with the brakes on my MK1 V6 galaxy Ghia. At speed, the brakes work fine and stop the car as they should. However when stopped at traffic lights or in slow moving traffis, my break pedal pressure almost disapears. Has any one come across this before and if so what was the solution. Thanks, Don

Help Mk2 Diesel
dragon32 replied to Galaxy newbie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi, The actual fuel pump would most likely be in the fuel tank. As for the injector pump, if youlook at your engine for four silver pipes and follow them from the engine they will leas you to the injector pump. Not having a deisel myself that the best I can do. Hope it helps, Don -
Hi Chris, I cant tell where its coming from but it did it again this morning. I took note of the level on the expansion tank and after it happened the level had dropped slightly. I am going to put some Kseal in tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks, Don
