  1. I've managed to snap one of our keys in half and yesterday was quoted
  2. Sorry Barlidge, I've only just seen your reply and picture. That's really helpful as for various reasons I didn't get to order the part. I'm on the hunt for it now!
  3. That is fantastic thank you! It goes to the oil separator, and I've finally found one on ebay for £25 in Ireland. I'm struggling to find one anywhere else, but now I have the part number and name I can try a few breakers tomorrow. Many thanks. x
  4. We have an oil leak which is getting worse. It's a 1998 1.9 110 TDI. It's from a breather hose and my local garage have been struggling to get hold of the part for a fortnight, only to be told today it's discontinued. I've been searching for 2 hours, ringing round local breakers with no success. One of the problems, is neither myself, or the garage know the official name for it, so google/ebay searches are drawing a blank. It connects from the rocker cover to the top of the engine block (I've taken the best photo I can) The ford part number is 1126862 If I knew the correct name, I could try VW/Seat suppliers (I'm guessing). It's driving me insane (and leaving increasingly large oil stains everywhere :-/ ) Any help much appreciated!
  5. Well, here's the link. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=231017719517&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:GB:1123 But it sold within a few minutes! I listed it on a whim whilst feeding the baby (as you do), not expecting much. Went into the kitchen, came back and it had gone! To a dealers it looks like. I must have listed it too cheaply! We're pleased though. It's more money than we'd have got for scrap and it will be gone by Monday. :) If the buyer pulls out then I'll re-list and let you know. Now to look at MK1 related FAQs! :D
  6. Hi all, after much deliberation, and looking at our time constraints (3 kids under five including a baby), we've decided we just want to be rid of the car in one piece. We've realised we have neither the time nor patience to start dismantling the car and spending ages ebaying parts. I have listed it on ebay if anyone is interested. If no buyers at auction ends, it goes to the salvage yard. I hope I haven't mucked anyone around too much, but we didn't realise how big a job it would be to strip for parts and just want an easy life
  7. OK, we'll have to look at this and see what we can do. We were only expecting people to want the odd switch or other small part before we sell it for salvage. All this is seeming a bit complicated to be honest (we are sooo un-technical), and we'll have to weigh it up against the price we've been quoted for salvage. If space was no issue then it would be easier but we need the car gone in the next week or so. I'll try to look at how easy the parts you wanted are to get off, and come back to you with prices. I can't promise it will be today though.
  8. What's a double din stereo? Head rests we've got, no problem, they are beige. Mats are only aftermarket rubber ones. Come down with a trailer! We were thinking of keeping these ourselves, but I don't know if it's possible. We don't have an incorporated child seat. Would you be able to come and take it off yourself? The reverse sensors have never worked so I doubt would be any good.
  9. I've just realised my location is listed as Scotland!?! We are in Essex. Also, engine has done approx 107,000 miles if that has any bearing, regularly serviced. (I"m not very technical so don't know how much impact that has)
  10. Yes I know, it seems criminal and we'd rather it go to a good home, but for us it isn't worth putting it back on the road. In some ways it was serendipity. The car had developed a couple of electrical issues and the fuel economy wasn't great so we were thinking of changing to a diesel anyway. With the insurance cheque, we've now got a cheaper to run MKI and a nice sum left over for maintenance/repairs, without having to sell the car first. The tailgate isn't an issue, only cosmetic, a salvage bumper and bracket would be cheap. In fact, the bumper is sitting inside the car and I think could be re-painted easily. But it would probably need a new exhaust or back box for the MOT. So if anyone is interested, I'd rather it not be scrapped. We need it to be gone soon though due to space, and it can't be driven away legally - hence scrap/salvage within a week or two.
  11. Will I get shot for posting this?! Our MKII 2.3 Ghia has been Cat C written off (needs new bumper and tailgate is damaged). We've just bought a MKI diesel as a replacement and now the 2.3 needs to go. We were going to scrap it, then realised we could sell to a salvage buyer for slightly more money instead. Before we do, are there any parts anybody needs? Or indeed the whole car?!? (MOT until November, but needs new MOT for insurance and VIC check for log book. We're near Maldon in Essex, but if the parts are easy for a numpty like me to remove, then I would be happy to post. (P.S.), We're hoping to swap the alloys onto the MKI if they fit though.
  12. Our 2001, Y, 2.3 Ghia might be about to be written-off (we'll find out next week). We love the Galaxy, but it is soooo expensive to run, especially as I often make short trips during the week (5-10 mins). Even the tax is horrendous. As this might be serendipity, (provided we get a decent settlement), we'd look to get a more economic model. Apart from looking at the fuel consumption tables, what models have others found to a good bet generally? Although we love the all-singing bells and whistles on our model, our only actual 'must-have' is 3-point belts all round, so a newer model is likely. Just exploring all the options (as I have no social life left and hence not much else better to do on a Saturday night!) Oh, and we're hoping we'd have a budget of £2000-2500.
  13. Just browsing as we might need to change our Galaxy for about the same budget. We didn't realise about the lap belt when we bought our one (2001 model), but had a 3-point belt put in for £300 by a specialist company.
  14. Somebody asked if I could show some photos, so here they are. :) Clipped away when not in use. http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u368/janineb1/galaxy/seat3_zps2fadc4a8.jpg How it connects to the seat on the nearside. http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u368/janineb1/galaxy/seat2_zpsd5879f3e.jpg Going over the shoulder. http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u368/janineb1/galaxy/seat1_zps0277a7ae.jpg We all fit! http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u368/janineb1/galaxy/seat4_zps5b1f6d72.jpg
