  1. i only just noticed only just noticed the reply - thanks for that never heard of connects2! just done a search and saw loads of results are u talking about something like this on ebay: http://bit.ly/TlJFyt? let me know thanks
  2. guys, i still have the problem :23: first time round: cam sensor was changed. all wirings and everything else were fully checked and tested ok, as i said above today: europarts agreed to take back the first cam sensor and supplied a new one. new one fitted. the old one showed signs of the timing belt wheel rubbing - so this was slightly adjusted. turned on engine: no change. :( put old cable back in. drove car. no change. drove for 2 min and came to stop. started car again and the problem was gone!! took 2 small trips to local shops 30 min apart. on second trip on the way back, problem back. :( unplugging and replugging the cable must have had some sort of effect?? i'd also add that i used the obd cable and roostech software to try and clear the codes after fitting of the new wire not sure what to do next?? my friend has suggested that clearing the fault with a proper vag diagnostic unit might help we're going to try this tomorrow - apart from that, we're at a loss any suggestions would be great thanks
  3. eBay tyre compressors - just over £5 for analogue and under £15 for digital Are these any good? Or should I save my pennies? What winds me up is spending £0.50 at the petrol pumps Given the world we're in, I'm sure we're not far off putting that upto £1 I thought I'd ask before buying a cheap analogue one Thanks Omar
  4. I was thinking of buying a bluetooth handsfree visor unit - but have been recommended not to in another thread So... I thought of buying a THB Bury kit Ridiculously cheap prices for used systems on eBay - the only thing is I assume these come without instructions Has anyone here installed one of these? I have a Ford Galaxy 2001 reg Is it just a case of plugging into the back of the car stereo? (And then routing the wiring)? Thanks Omar
  5. i was't actually planning on placing on the sun visor! i was planning on putting on the dashboard on one of those sticky mats (though not leaving there permanently on display waiting for a thief) how much better is the sound than say using loudspeaker? i'm thinking: maybe i should save myself a lot of hassle and just get a bloetooth earpiece i can't stand those damn earpieces!!
  6. @seatkid, you updated your reply and gave a second link the second link has some text saying "There is a resistance test that you can carry out to check your wiring loom and confirm the diagnosis. I can post this when & if your willing to do this." i've tried reading through the post but seem lost - too much information overload if u know the resistance test and how to do, can u give me a link to instructions? thanks
  7. thanks for that link i actually read that thread before (didn't take notice of where the guy said he tested cable after and it was OK) still not sure though - makes no sense to me if the wire tests ok outside of being plugged in - and then it doesn't work when fitted back doesn't make too much sense if it's getting squashed or squeezed and that's what's causing a breakage, then surely that could be fixed?? i think it would be a good idea to test thoroughly more with the wire out - maybe test the wire while bent or something
  8. just done that, but all i get is results for this thread! can u give me a link or 2 to follow? thanks
  9. i had a look at the link. the problem is that the solutions suggested are too many >> Check wiring and Check / Clean all connections that's been done thoroughly >> Replace the cable-tree to/from all the Valves for Pump Jet all cables were tested and seemed to be working my friend got an electric testing unit and that indicated the wirings were ok it does say below: could it be that testing using the electric meter could give a positive result, but that the wires could still be faulty?? i would have assumed that either there's a break in the wire or not? it also says: >> Replace Valve for Pump Jet (replace them all !) the problem with replacing all cables and/or valve/pump is that it's really really expensive! the fault is most likely just one single connection :46: replacing all of those parts could cost someone £1000 just for the parts (if they went to the wrong place to buy) EDIT: i've just driven the car and all is fine again. what do u think this indicates? thanks
  10. OK... I've reset using the OBD2 tool, same error is reporting: what next? my friend suggested that we use the fuel injector cleaner - i'm not to familiar with this, but he said that you put in and run the engine at high speed to wash out the insides will this solve? (just asking for opinions) thanks
  11. **** and double **** :46: :5: the problem is back it came back last night. i filled up with fuel and magic, it went away this morning it's back i'm going to use the obd2 tool to reset but i'm assuming this won't fix?? erm... i didn't do myself i paid someone to do it's cost £300 so far :( any ideas?
  12. I have a Ford Galaxy 2001 reg I've asked about stereos to buy The cost would be about £150 - involves buying the stereo and different adapters Not worth it for me How crap is crap? Not at all usable?
  13. (Was't sure where to ask question... I thought I;d try here hoping someone will answer) I want to get a cheap bluetooth car kit - one of the ones you stick on the visor and charge by a USB socket Has any one used these? Are they any good? Prices range from £10 - £40+ Are the £10 ones any good? Thanks Omar
  14. thanks for the replies sorry if this is dumb: where are the faqs? i did look for one just now, but can't find. please give a link i have no idea if the key has been programmed or not - i assume the faq will have instructions to reprogram? hmmm... i only have one key! i don't much fancy making it into a dud question: whats the best way of getting a duplicate made - happy to have a duplicate even if the remote control doesn't work let me know die of old age: well... that's the thing. the car is 11+ years old, so should i just stop there and stop worrying and learn to live with + use a little wd40 once a year? thanks
  15. My key fob is not working - Ford Galaxy 2001 The previous owner had the problem and just learned to live with it I've searched on eBay for a battery or something but can't find any sellers Any idea how I can get fixed? I'm using manually to open the doors and close right now I had a BMW previously where the key went as well I was using manually for about 9 months - then the key mechanism broke I managed to get fixed by someone who did a postal service The guy told me that the door locking mechanism isn't designed to be used manually and that simple repeated usage would lead to breaking after a while - exactly what happened I'm just concerned the same might happen with the Ford Galaxy? Any help or pointers would be great Thanks Omar
  16. UPDATE: car is fixed and working fine now We had a mechanic strip the car and get to the injectors My friend tested all 4 looms with an electric meter and they seemed to be OK Everything else seemed fine, the only thing left to do was the Cam Sensor - this was reported as being faulty in the diagnostic report that I gave in the first post in this thread We replaced this and now the car is running fine It's been a big headache lifted off my shoulders Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated
  17. i saw a nissan juke on car lease - £130 per month for 2 years (+VAT) awesome i thought. went to have a look with the wife. you could barely fit 3 skinny size 0 models at the back! (it does look just sooo awesome though - lovely looking car) salesman then showed me the qashkai - the leg room at the back is *less* than what i had in my 3 series bmw so we went up to the next one, i forgot what it was called - something terrain legroom barley acceptable - this car is longer than the ford galaxy i have i'm thinking now, maybe the ford galaxy is pretty ok :angry2: the leg room we have seems massive compared to what else i've seen in other cars
  18. guys, thanks for the last 2 replies well... the thing is, i don't plan on keeping the car for more than a few months say 6 months - it's ok for now so don't want to fix unless i absolutely need to one thing i'll say though: the size of the car is getting on my nerves! my previous car was a bmw 3 series. damn do i miss it!!! i used to love it. sold it to webuyanycar (long story - but a funny one!). i got the galaxy virtually for free so can't grumble
  19. My mileage is really low Say 5000 a year The cost of a typical brand new tyre I saw on that website was £135 I'd hope that the second hand ones I purchased last me more than 9 months I'd rather spend £30 every 9 months than fork out £135 Yes: I know buying second hand maybe just put luck
  20. just checked my tyres for price at tyre-shopper ouch! expensive i thought i was getting ripped off when i paid £30 a tyre for 2nd hand ones question: how many years should new tyres last?
  21. Has anyone here purchased tyres online? On ebay I can see what seems to be OK prices I paid £30 each for 2 second hand tyres the other day On ebay I see £180 for 4 Just wondering... don't actually need now But... after getting the tyres, where and how do I get fixed onto the car? Thanks Omar
  22. aaahh... exactly the symptoms i have! hmmm... maybe i won't bother trying to fix in that case not that i want to try and fix if i don't absolutely have to... but what does this mean? not sure. if it's not too much effort, then i'd be willing to give it a go important: i've been driving the car around. is this ok? will i do damage to the car if it's not fixed and i drive round? it's a struggle, but i've kinda got used to it. i've had a few pensioners in skoda's over take me as well which has been demoralising. let me know. thanks
  23. @bigkev, thanks - at least someone out there is listening to me! to be honest, i would be happy to get by using one of those but... i have a cd player i have no real desire to actually replace the damn stereo (main reason being not having my car broken into for the 'different' looking stereo) i can buy an mp3 player with memory card and usb input from ebay for just a few pounds these are all small size ones though - so i need some sort of plastic to cover the top and bottom if no one else has replied, i guess there isnt an option?
  24. @chrispb123456 thanks for the reply - u've been amazing help @nickpv, that's useful info. so this is a problem that may not be 'fixable'? hmmm? better not to waste money/time/effort trying to fix? let me know what you think
  25. thanks for the reply sorry if this is a dumb question, but what's the 'code'? how do i know what my code is? also: i changed the latency to 3. didn't work. still poor. i changed to 2. bingo! it now reports as good. i can now read most codes of everything. a few just come back and say can't read - assume that's because that unit is not there - like navigation big thanks for that - the tool is great i got some other errors as well now though, can u tell me what these mean: both, i didn't get first time around when i quoted above when i used the unit with poor latency question: how do i find out what the codes mean in more detail? is there a dictionary lookup somewhere? thanks
