  1. A search of the forum didn't return anything (not sure if it's broken as well as my window). Our 1999 2.8 Ghia X is refusing to open the passenger front window. It just clicks as if it's reached end of travel, and stays put. There is no movement of the glass at all. I read the threads about wiring issues and had the door apart looking for continuity problems on the power handling wires, as I thought it might be dropping out because it couldn't get enough current, but it does not seem to be this. So can anyone advise me as to wether the motor might be jammed, the glass might be jammed, or I may still have an electical problem? Did not want to go taking the motor off without knowing how much of a job it would be putting it back! Thanks, Vince.
  2. If the only thing between the battery and the fan is the relay, and when the ignition is off the coil isn't energised, then fused relay contacts are the likely fault. The point of pulling it out is that your battery does not go flat! Pretty pointless having a flat battery when you don't have to. You have the option of re-fitting it when you drive around! When I opened up mine, the contacts were so badly pitted that I concluded that replacement was the only sensible option. Vince.
  3. I had this problem on my 2.3 petrol Galaxy. Go to the auxillary fuse box in the engine compartment, pull out the green relay and see if this stops the fan. If the fan runs on too long with the ignition off and pulling out this relay stops the fans, then go buy a new relay. It will cost about
  4. Does anyone know how easy it is to get the fans off on a VR6? I have a dead fan on my V6 Ghia X, Elaswin says to drop the radiator and all sorts of pumps. Can you get to the bottom bolts without all this work? Vince.
  5. You could just arrange to huddle together in your Galaxys in one corner of the car park? Shame it's not down our end of the country - we could bring both our Galaxys! Me bad! Vince.
  6. I changed mine myself, so can confirm they both failed within days of each other. Vince.
  7. I had the two cooling fans fail in the same sort of way on our 97 2.3 Giha X - they are not cheap, but Fraud was the lowest price. Vince.
  8. I can get my V6 into programming mode, exactly as you describe, but my 2.3 won't, so I think the suggestion that the controller has died is probably correct. Thanks for the info. Vince.
  9. If you know what P1413 means, could you please let me know. I found the text description it's "Secondary Air Injection System Monitor circuit Low Voltage" Should I do anything about it? Thanks for any info. Vince.
  10. Does anybody know the mod to the Elector/MobyDick interface so VagCom will work with that interface? The Elector site mentions a mod/adapter/cable? But does not say what the mod actually is. Vince.
  11. I can answer that, they didn't want to pay them enough, so they replaced them with spanner monkeys with big hammers. One of my friends is a manager in the UK head office of a european manufacturer, he would rather be a mechanic, but they wouldn't give him enough time to go a good job, so he got out! Vince.
  12. Hi, Yes I forgot to mention that it used to work, so fair comment regarding wether it has remote, but it does. Interesting idea about the controller. I have downloaded vag com, I take it it works with the Elector obd interface? Hopefully I will be able to find out if there are any errors reported by the controller. Vince.
  13. I have searched and tried all sorts of suggestions, but I cannot seem to get my 1997/8 R reg 2.3 Giha X into programming mode. I have tried unlocking, opening the door, closing it, turning key to open position 3 times within 5 seconds, and I just cannot get it into programming mode. I have searched the forum and nothing has helped. Does anyone have info for me? Is it something about the model/year or could I be turning the key wrongly/using the wrong key? Please help. Vince.
