thanks i have tryed slackening off , but it has a piston tensioner that take up slack i have set it at the correct gap and tryed it at a larger gap noises is still there the piston tensioner as a massive pressure on the belt or is it the new water pump ?

I have a ford galaxy 2001 tdi changed belt tensioner water pump pickup cam senor , My problem is wineing as if the belt is to tight , i have the correct gap on the pressure piston ,But the belt is very tight could it be a bad water pump or am i setting it wrong , I set the pulley all the way back put locking tool to hold piston turn wheel anti clock and slowly release to set gap ,lock nut , set it up three times still winning help please.
