  1. Duh... It was so obvious, nevermind thanks for your help vr6 Next time I will check the instructions and then go to the car BEFORE asking a second one. Off to get another bulb tomorrow  Just have to see which dealer is cheaper Vdub or Fraud
  2. So there are no screws to actually remove the unit from the vehicle. Im just not sure how to remove the unit to get to the back of it and im reluctant to shell out for a paynes manual when i have you helpful guys
  3. I have searched through the forums and cannot find any mention anywhere.. Anyway the illumination on the heater controls doesn't work . The aircon light and air recycler lights work just the actual dial illumination is off. Is this likely to be a case of removing the unit and checking that no wires have fallen off. If so how do I remove the unit many thanks L'pig
  4. Just to let you guys know the Locksmith came round to the house last night. Plugged in the system and read the ECU straightaway, cut two keys and programmed them in around 30 minutes. He charged me 90 quid which I thought was reasonable. Something he did mention was that he could sort out the locks on the doors so that they work on the ignition key, he has quoted me 2 hrs labour and parts, 70 quid in total :) Very reasonable so will give that a try as well. I will pass on his details here www.auto-locks.co.uk just in case anybody in the Berkshire area has problems
  5. Thanks. Found a locksmiths in the YP and have dropped them a mail. Will let you guys know the outcome. Kind regards Kev
  6. VR6, when you had yours coded were they from the vehicles PAT system or a 'copy' of the transducer? BTW thanks for all the prompt replies, specially as I'm a Galaxy noob :)
  7. Anybody in the Berkshire area that has had the same done and can recommend a company? kev
  8. Thanks guys, The only thing with the keys is I have one and one only for the ignition. So does it look like a trip to the dealers to get another key and transducer and have them connect the diag unit up. I have looked through all of the docs and cannot find a mention of the code. Best options? Kind regards Kev
  9. Guys I have just got my new Galaxy and have about four hundred keys :) Two for the Passenger and two for the driver side plus one for the ignition, neither of which works in any other door. The ignition key is the 'torch' type and that is all I have. So my first question. With the current locks, can you assemble the tumblers to work with one key or do you buy the door lock and tumbler with the key? (I only ask as i am sure with the older locks you used to be able to do something like this) Secondly, Anybody know of a good locksmith in the Reading, Berkshire area that can code me and cut another key, or is this a trip to the dealer :) many thanks for any help Kev
  10. Thanks Guys, Thanks to Ian for the mail. I will bear both of those in mind nearer the time. BTW what a joy the Galaxy is to drive :)
  11. Hi all, I am new to the forums and about to pick up my first galaxy this weekend. I know that it does not have remote central locking, and scouring the forums I notice that an aftermarket unit can be fitted. Could somebody (AlarmMan ?) give me an idea of the best one to buy and a good supplier. I will be getting Toad Ai606 later in the year but the extra of remote central will be an advantage at the moment. The vehicle is a 98 2.3 Si Kind regards Liddlepig
