  1. Yes, ignition on and drivers side headlight illuminated. No other faults.
  2. Bulb defo blew, new bulb is defo ok, fitted correctly, good conection, fuses are all good. No live power to the plug, earth is fine. Any other suggestions???????????
  3. Hi All, My passenger side headlight (low beam) bulb blew. I've replaced the bulb but still no light. The bulb works fine, it's fitted correctly, and the fuses seem to be ok too. Any ideas???
  4. Finally got the damn thing out after finding the usefull link (under pollen filter for those other thickies like me). Filter wasn't that bad, I've seen worse, but changed it anyway. Problem is now a little better than it was but it's still not as I'd like so I'm looking into fixing the air con. Thanks for all the help and advice.
  5. I'm trying to get to the cabin filter today to check it, but can't find the link on here to tell me how, so i'm using good old fasioned 'pulling bits off till I reach it' method.
  6. I'm not losing any coolant and cannot find any apparent leaks. I have a heated front screen but not much of it is still in working order - a common problem - when they work they're brilliant, but when they start to give up it's a rapid decline. My air con also doesn't work but it seems getting this fixed may be my only option. The air controller is not on re-circ either. The original reason for this post was that the blowers don't seem to have enough 'blow' in them. When the directional controller is in the windscreen position hardly anything comes from any other vent. I've had plenty of different cars before and on all of them you could keep the side vents open and pointed at the side windows to keep them clear even when the controller was set to windscreen. It just hasn't got enough blow, despite everything seeming to be working correctly. I'll give rainx a try and price up getting the air con fixed.
  7. So basically, check the cabin filter and if that's ok I'm screwed cos my air con doesn't work. Looks like I may have to consider a different car then, I can't be doing with this all winter.....
  8. Hi all, I've had a look round the forum but can't see anything to help. (I may have missed it?) My blowers don't blow enough air at the window to keep it mist free when it's raining outside. It's ok when I'm driving alone, but put 2 people in it in wet weather and it's horrific. If I had 7 people in I'd have to wait for the rain to stop before driving, IT'S THAT BAD. The air blows hot or cold as required so nothing wrong with the heat controller and the fans work in all 4 positions, each position blowing harder than the previous, it just doesn't blow anywhere near enough. The directional controller seems to work ok too, so I'm wondering if the air intake can get blocked or something?? I'd really appreciate any help anyone could offer. Thanks in advance, Karl.
  9. Thankyou! I have a year 2000 MkII galaxy, 2.3 manual. I'd traced the wires for the O/S lights as they're virtually next to where I've routed the cables to but help with the other side and especially the fog light would be very much appreciated. Any clues on how to wire the other socket up too? I'm fast thinking that I'd be better off just not bothering with it. Reading some of the threads on here about routing wires to the engine bay sounds like a lot of hassle. Thanks again, Karl.
  10. Thanks, removing the bumper protector plate and bending the bracket for the sockets has sorted the parking sensor issue. Just need help figuring out how to wire the bloody things up now.
  11. Hi, Do I have to buy the ford specific wiring kit for the tow bar I've just fitted or can I wire straight into the existing wiring? If I can wire straight in, where is best to do this? I've searched this site (and others) but cannot find a step by step guide anywhere, I'd have thought one would be listed somewhere as I imagine it's a fairly common issue. My old astra had a plug on the vehicle wiring loom in the boot specifically for towing electrics, so it was more or less straight forward to cut that off and wire a universal kit straight to that wiring. It would appear the galaxy is not that simple. I suppose what I'm really wanting is an 'idiots guide' to wiring the electrics. This wire goes into that wire sort of thing. Removing trim panels and fitting the bar is easy, I'm a competent spanner man, but electrics is not my strongest quality. HELP (please).
  12. Hi all, I've just fitted a tow bar to my MkII galaxy (2000 model). I've attached twin electrical sockets but now the parking sensors tell me I'm touching something as soon as reverse is selected. Is it possible to bypass the offending sensors? Also, I cannot seem to find the best place for connecting to the vehicle wiring and Haynes don't seem to do a workshop manual for the MkII. I've routed the wiring to behind the drivers side rear light unit, I was wondering if someone who has wired one of these recently could advise me on which wires are what for both the twin electrical sockets I have fitted. I've tried the FAQ section, but when I click on any of the links it says that internet explorer cannot display the page. Thanks in advance of any help, Karl.
  13. Hi All, I bought a galaxy but it only came with one key. Fortunately it is the remote locking key but it wasn't working. I've replaced the batteries in the key, and now the little light on the key illuminates so I know it's trying, but still no effect on the car. Any help would be appreciated. I've looked in the FAQ section but the link doesn't seem to work. I'm also considering getting another key made, is this expensive? It's a 2000 2.3 petrol model, MkII. Thanks, Karl.
  14. Hello all, I have a mk2 galaxy auto but it only drives in tip-tronic mode and does nothing in 'D'. After asking for suggestions on here and getting no replies I wondered if fitting a manual gearbox would be possible and what would be needed to do it. As I see it, gearbox, gearstick, clutch pedal assembly and clocks would be needed. Has anyone done one of these conversions and can anyone offer any advice? Thanks, Karl.
