  1. Hi, I fitted a 1Z (90 hp) passat engine in my MK1 Sharan. The bolt for the engine supports were smaller on the passat engine, but they were in the same position on the engine block so all I did was to drill and make new bigger treads. I used the clutch from my old engine and then my 5 step manual gearbox fitted without problem, but as mentioned this was a 1Z engine.
  2. Just disconnected the plug for the foglight (located inside the car, inside the room were the car jack etc is). The wiring from that plug to the fog light is ok. When I tried my testlamp it shows no current comming from the light switch, so the problem is somewhere in the "front" of the car.
  3. Thanks bigdave982, just ordered one on ebay :)
  4. Hi everybody, I have tried again and again to find a TIS for my galaxy on ebay. Anyone that have a link to a TIS that covers my 2004 mod and works with Windows 7 ?
  5. You are right, I have two rear fog lights. My reverse light work fine, it has the same earth connection as my fog lights. If I am not wrong that means that the earth is ok ? Maybe the wires are not broken in the area visible when I remove the rubber protection, but somewhere else ?
  6. Hi, my rear fog light is not working. I have seached a lot on the forum and have just checked the wiring in the 5th door. The wiring looks to be fine ( I repaired a lot of those wires on my MK1 sharan). The fog light indicator in the instrument panel has a week light that comes and goes, but when i use the break or left/right direction lights the light gets brighter ( but not as bright as when I switch on my rear fog lights) In my instruction book it says that the front fog light fuse is nr 26. The rear fog light is not mentioned at all in the book, is it the same fuse for front/rear fog lights ? Any good inputs on how to trouble shoot ? Start dismantling the main light switch, and check if the grey wire gets current ?
  7. Thanks for your help Dave ! I will just start in one end checking the wiring, thats no problem :23:
  8. Hi, my brake pad light is on. Changed brake pads but still alarm. Tried to find the brake pads on Vag Com but could not find them. Does anyone know where to find them in the menu ? Would be nice to know if the problem are fwd or aft, just to make it easier to find the open circut.
  9. Hi my galaxy bucks and snatches slightly at low speed when cold. When driving in 3 gear and 40 km/t the car pulles unevenly, only when the load is low (flat or slightly down hill) I changed my air inlet filter and diesel filter and then it dissapered 100%. This is 6 months ago and now its starts again. Next time I will change only one filter at the time to be able to specify what filter that made the differens. Any idea what the problem is?
  10. When I changed my shock absorbers I used a drill to remove the old ones. First I filled the unbraco hole with a sutable bolt of soft iron. Then I started with a 4-5 mm drillbit then one around 8mm and finaly 13 mm drillbit. It is not possible to drill strait down from the top. You must drill with and angle (I think I removed the wiper mecanisme), started drilling in the top of the nut as close to the absorber bolt as possible. With the correct angle your drillbit will end in the senter of the bottom part of the nut. If your angle is not correct it will anyway be easy to twist the absorber bolt off. The reason for filling the unbraco hole is to avoid damaging/locking your drillbit when a part of the drillbit starts to enter into the hole. The job is easy, but for me to explain it is hard.. :) This will offcourse totaly damage your old absorber so maybe it is not the best way for you. The car repair shops always use a pneumatic hammer, on the galaxy with a universal joint because no acsess strait from the top. I fitted new monroe reflex absorbers (new nuts came with the absorbers) and the car feels like new. I must say that the aft absorbers were most worn. Anyway good luck with your job
  11. thanks madbaz :)
  12. Hi, I tried many times to find TIS on ebay, but can not find it :) I only find one Ford TIS but its not for the Galaxy. Anyone have a link to a Ford Galaxy (2004) TIS ? :)
  13. Hi again, changed both front arb bushes. Noise is not there anymore, fantastic ! I was like 100% sure that the noise came from upper area, but it didnt! It feels like I got myselfe a new car again, thanks to forum members for helping me
  14. Hi, just to inform others with noisy front blower. Started looking for the front blower today, it is behind the glow compartment. Just remove the "door" and it is straight forward to dismantle the fan motor with impeller. There were a lot of dust in my motor but the brushes were fine. I just blow all the dust away with compressed air and lubricated the bearings with lub oil. The bearings looks to be glide bearings and not ball bearings. The fan is quiet now, hopfully it will continue like this.
  15. Hi, I have been seaching on forum but not able to find anything about my problem. There is a high freqent noise from front blower, anybody had this before? Bearing or something in contact with impeller? Difficult to access the fan motor? By the way, I have been searching ebay for TIS for galaxy but not able to find any for the 2004 mod, any body on the forum that has a link to a TIS ?
  16. Hi, I will order new arb bushes tomorrow as you did grannypower. I would think the ub40 spray would make some change of sound, but to be sure I will replace them with new.
  17. Yesterday I sprayed ub40 spray on my arb clamps but still the same noise. More trouble shooting to be done...
  18. Hi, I fitted 4 new Monroe Reflex not long ago and is very happy. When I pushed the old absorbers together the resistance was uneven and one was totaly without gas. The car is much better, I have several speed dumps on the road were I live and driving over them is much much better. But it is a tall car with high gravity center so I gess it will never be among the best car to drive (the reflex dampers are recomendend for big/tall cars). I must say that I have not driven any good new car lately so I am not the right man to tell if the car is good or not, but there were a big difference with new absorbers.
  19. Thanks seatkid  , I will spray som wd40 on the anti roll bar U-monts to see what happens. Have to wait for dry wether again, when the sound is there I have my ub40 spray ready !
  20. Same her, more noise in cold (and dry) wether  Everything works on my car, I like my car, but this noise is frustrating. What is a arb bushes ?
  21. Yes I have checked them and they are ok, but thanks for the advice
  22. Hi, when I drive over speed dumps there is a noise from front. It is not a nocking noise, sound more like rubber towards metal making a "screaming" noise. The noise disapears when the problem area gets wet. When driving in rain there is no noise. When driving on dry roads the noise seems to gradualy dissapear when driving for a while (problem area getting warm..?) To me it sounds like it is the rubber in the front top mounts. I changed shock absorbers but did not change the rubber top mounts, they looked OK and to me they seemed not to be a part that needs to be changed. This noise started gradually before I changed absorbers and has continued, there was not any change in noise with new absorbers. Maybe the rubber quality changes (hardned) over the years? For trouble shooting I lifted the right front end of the car from the ground, then there is a 10mm(?) clearence between the rubber and the body of the car. I had som old belt grip spray that I sprayed between rubber and body. After this the noise is still the same and still the same on right and left side. Is the noise from where the springs rest? Top bearings are OK. I am not sure that the noise is from the top area, as you know it is hard to finger point where noise comes from. Maybe from anti roll bar clamps? Trouble shooting on a problem like this is not easy (to me anyway  ) Anyone had this problem?
  23. FYI (not about aircon) Changed front shock absorbers, the car felt like new, my wife said the same when she drived it. I can now run over the speed adjusters on the road with 15 km/t moore than before :)
  24. Hi again, thanks for good advice steve and chrispb, I check and do as you recommend :) Tomorrow I will change the front shock absorbers did the aft ones today. Welded special tool for the top nuts and socked the nuts with UB40 :) spray today.
  25. Hello gentlemenn ! :) I wonder what is the most common problem with aircon? Is it possible to avoid some of them? Is there some pipe that can be better protected against rust or maybe better supported to avoid vibration to prevent gas leaks. My aircon is working 100% and would like this continue :) Best Regards Norwegian sailor Galaxy 2004 TDI 85kw AUY Manuel transmission 170.000 kilometer.
