Engine On Its Way Out
2004AUY85kwTDI replied to jonny13's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi, I fitted a 1Z (90 hp) passat engine in my MK1 Sharan. The bolt for the engine supports were smaller on the passat engine, but they were in the same position on the engine block so all I did was to drill and make new bigger treads. I used the clutch from my old engine and then my 5 step manual gearbox fitted without problem, but as mentioned this was a 1Z engine. -
Rear Fog Light Not Working
2004AUY85kwTDI replied to 2004AUY85kwTDI's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Just disconnected the plug for the foglight (located inside the car, inside the room were the car jack etc is). The wiring from that plug to the fog light is ok. When I tried my testlamp it shows no current comming from the light switch, so the problem is somewhere in the "front" of the car. -

Rear Fog Light Not Working
2004AUY85kwTDI replied to 2004AUY85kwTDI's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You are right, I have two rear fog lights. My reverse light work fine, it has the same earth connection as my fog lights. If I am not wrong that means that the earth is ok ? Maybe the wires are not broken in the area visible when I remove the rubber protection, but somewhere else ? -
Rear Fog Light Not Working
2004AUY85kwTDI posted a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi, my rear fog light is not working. I have seached a lot on the forum and have just checked the wiring in the 5th door. The wiring looks to be fine ( I repaired a lot of those wires on my MK1 sharan). The fog light indicator in the instrument panel has a week light that comes and goes, but when i use the break or left/right direction lights the light gets brighter ( but not as bright as when I switch on my rear fog lights) In my instruction book it says that the front fog light fuse is nr 26. The rear fog light is not mentioned at all in the book, is it the same fuse for front/rear fog lights ? Any good inputs on how to trouble shoot ? Start dismantling the main light switch, and check if the grey wire gets current ? -
Hi my galaxy bucks and snatches slightly at low speed when cold. When driving in 3 gear and 40 km/t the car pulles unevenly, only when the load is low (flat or slightly down hill) I changed my air inlet filter and diesel filter and then it dissapered 100%. This is 6 months ago and now its starts again. Next time I will change only one filter at the time to be able to specify what filter that made the differens. Any idea what the problem is?

When I changed my shock absorbers I used a drill to remove the old ones. First I filled the unbraco hole with a sutable bolt of soft iron. Then I started with a 4-5 mm drillbit then one around 8mm and finaly 13 mm drillbit. It is not possible to drill strait down from the top. You must drill with and angle (I think I removed the wiper mecanisme), started drilling in the top of the nut as close to the absorber bolt as possible. With the correct angle your drillbit will end in the senter of the bottom part of the nut. If your angle is not correct it will anyway be easy to twist the absorber bolt off. The reason for filling the unbraco hole is to avoid damaging/locking your drillbit when a part of the drillbit starts to enter into the hole. The job is easy, but for me to explain it is hard.. :) This will offcourse totaly damage your old absorber so maybe it is not the best way for you. The car repair shops always use a pneumatic hammer, on the galaxy with a universal joint because no acsess strait from the top. I fitted new monroe reflex absorbers (new nuts came with the absorbers) and the car feels like new. I must say that the aft absorbers were most worn. Anyway good luck with your job

Front Fan High Frequent Noise.
2004AUY85kwTDI replied to 2004AUY85kwTDI's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi, just to inform others with noisy front blower. Started looking for the front blower today, it is behind the glow compartment. Just remove the "door" and it is straight forward to dismantle the fan motor with impeller. There were a lot of dust in my motor but the brushes were fine. I just blow all the dust away with compressed air and lubricated the bearings with lub oil. The bearings looks to be glide bearings and not ball bearings. The fan is quiet now, hopfully it will continue like this. -
Hi, I have been seaching on forum but not able to find anything about my problem. There is a high freqent noise from front blower, anybody had this before? Bearing or something in contact with impeller? Difficult to access the fan motor? By the way, I have been searching ebay for TIS for galaxy but not able to find any for the 2004 mod, any body on the forum that has a link to a TIS ?
