Gosh so the Ford dealers drove it at those RPM's for you and after that everything was fine? If so did it stop it for good or did it come back anytime later? When you say exactly the same issues was that both the malfuction light coming on and the juddering at low RPM's? also what did you have to do to make sure it didn't happen again? Many thanks for your help. :-)

Hi thanks for the replies, I'll try to describe it as best I can I feel that when it's doing it that it is almost in too high a gear if you can imagine putting your car in 3rd gear and then letting it freewheel down to tickover the feeling is like that sort of power on power off momentarily if it were petrol I would say it's almost missfiring. The clutch itself is very smooth in operation and noiseless and the gearbox is as smooth as silk which I think is unuseual. The main issue I have is that I know something isn't right but for some reason it doesn't store any error codes the dealer is very helpful but haspointed out Ford do not want to put parts on under warranty unless there is an error code to show what is wrong, the workshop manager took my car home last time it was in hoping it would do it but it decided not to at that time. Why would my car not store error codes when the malfunction light comes on and it goes into limp mode? Thanks for the help any idea's more than welcome.

I have a little problem with my 2.0 TDCI the engine management light comes on under hard acceleration through the gears normally when overtaking dropping down to 3rd then up to 4th and 5th I then notice the light on and I'm in limp mode this has happened 5 times now, been into Ford to be fixed as it's under warranty still but they say no error code was stored and couldn't find any fault. I have bought an Elmscan 5 to check the fault codes myself and even though I had it do it 3 times over the weekend no error codes are stored. I have booked it into Ford again but how are they going to fix it if no error codes are being stored? Does anyone have any idea why no codes are being stored when there is something for sure that is happeneing. I also have another fault which may or may not be related the car judders at speeds in between 1250 and 2000RPM sometimes when it's cold other times when it's hot no fixed pattern here some days it's awfull and does it almost all the time other days it hardly does it at all, it feels like it'son kangaroo juice as they say.

Garage In Southampton

I can recommend where not to go The Peter Cooper VW group, if you do be VERY careful all I will say is expert at promises the actual results I dare not post. -
We have a strange noise/vibration under powerful acceleration in 1st 2nd and 3rd gears first time I noticed it was when some traffic lights changed and I accelerated to be sure I went through on yellow (so you know when it happens) normally I do not put my foot down so hard and so never have a problem I was in 3rd gear doing 35mph in a 40 zone so it wasn't labouring was doing just over 2000rpm. The wife says it's like a juddering gratering noise feeling?? Any idea's please.

I suggest you don't use the +++++++++++++++++ to do it I had a Sharan from them and it was never right in 4 years of ownership they are cowboys using VW's instead of horses, I cannot go into details as I am taking them to court but all I say is buyer beware if you deal with them. best not name them if you have a legal case pending  might not be seen to be the right thing,as they cannot defend themselves. by all means if you win, then name and shame

Thank you for that I will contact the dealer and see what they say.

Hi just bought a 59 Mk3 Galaxy and looked under the bonnet and saw the road!! I then looked under the car and the bottom of the engine is visable ie there is no under tray that used to be on the earlier Galaxy's. Does anyone know if this is correct or should there be one on it? What is the reason for putting an under tray on? Is it to stop the air from cooling the sump or is it to make the underneat more streamlined?

Cheapest Mintex Brake Disc/pads Around?
sharalaxy replied to Scope's topic in Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy)
Well I wish I could have wrote this, it covers everything that matters I couldn't for the life of me remember TMD so you have helped me fix that bit that was missing from my memory also. If people take not of your words chances are they will buy a quality product, I use Mintex from a local supplier authorised by Mintex you get the hologram on the box which I hope the chinesse don't do. But I have always been happy with them and I can and do drive very quickly at times yet never had brake fade but did get it with the original VW pads. -
Biodiesel - Using 100% Homebrew.
sharalaxy replied to johnson's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Welcome to the forum. It will run cooler and quieter than regular diesel as the octane rating is much lower which by its very nature will be down on power I'm afraid (If you popped it on a rolling road you will see around 10 -20 bhp drop) Morrisons used to have a 30% bio 70% regular mix diesel on their pumps but after a number of complaints from mostly VW owners have now dropped it to 8% bio. The fundermental problem with bio diesel is it's total lack of lubrication which over time wears out your motor ^_^ but hey you have a 13 year old motor , your call friend regards I'm not sure I get the total lack of lubrication Biodiesel unless I am mistaken is made from 100% oil only the dirt and scum is taken away leaving pure oil? Originally Diesel engines were designed to run on peanut oil which again is 100% oil? -

Timing Belt/chain
sharalaxy replied to sharalaxy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for the link it was very helpful in other ways also, I'm shocked at the high service life but nevertheless very happy if it is the way it is as compared to the Mk11 it will save a lot of money for me as I shouldn't need to change it as I normally have another car before that age and mileage. Nice cheap motoring for me by the looks of it. -
Hi can someone tell me if a 59 plate Galaxy Ghia 140 Diesel 2.0 has a timing belt or chain and the milage for checking/changing. I just cannot find out for sure some people say chain some belt some say early ones had chain new ones have belt, I am confused and want to know for sure.
