I have an R-reg Ford Galaxy. Lately, the temperature gauge has started moving around from just below normal range to about half-way round. I have checked the coolant level (no problem). The car does not appear to be overheating. In stationary traffic the gauge goes to about the halfway mark. Once traffic is flowing again, the needle will slowly move back down and then up again. Any ideas what the problem might be? Also, I don't recall seeing/hearing the engine cooling fan coming on. Should it come on during normal operating conditions?
